I offer only a resounding, “meh”.

I really don’t enjoy being a downer, but I don’t think that I’ll be playing this game. This story really isn’t grabbing me, and from what we’ve seen of the gameplay, it just looks like another dime-a-dozen, linear, over the shoulder action game masquerading as an open world experience, that is to say — a mediocre game stretched out over hundreds of hours and God knows how many gigabytes.

This trailer in particular solidifies some of my concerns with the writing. The crummy Glup Shitto names are kind of eye-rolly, and the lead character is definitely going to be dropping some Forspoken level zingers at some point. The vibes are off and I am bored.

I’m just so unbelievably sick of this era. Like, I get it if they don’t want to go full on Old Republic or New Jedi Order yet, but can we at least get something in the prequel era? Literally anything that doesn’t piggyback off of the OT would be such a breath of fresh air.

I’m sorry I’m just completely blackpilled as far as Star Wars gaming is concerned. I hope the game is great, or at least other people are excited for it.

Just don’t preorder, folks.

^Yes that captures my impressions as well. As someone who has played every Assassin's Creed title, a series which became egregious for sprawling open-world games that do not respect the player's time, I only get the sense that this would be another one of those to add to the list. I haven't even played Jedi Survivor yet (and have been spoiled quite a bit for it 😮‍💨), and I really do feel like I have to be selective about which games to invest my time into as an adult. Hell, I regret to this day being so far behind on Star Wars: The Old Republic and therefore the lore in it.

The protagonist of Outlaws comes across as yet another expy of Han Solo. I'm personally weary of the cocky, hotshot smuggler archetype in Star Wars. I don't know why that is a character that has to be redone again and again.

I have to say that this game looks really good

Not sure what I was expecting from this game after the first trailer came out but this looks to be another fun game like Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor and Battlefront II (2017)

I can't say I'm excited. Every game Ubisoft makes is the same mediocre micro transaction laden garbage. I got Avatar Frontiers of Pandora last year hoping it would be different but it wasn't, it was just meh and that sucks because those are my favorite movies. I have no faith that this game will be any different either so I won't buy it. I want it to be good but I know it won't so I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

I may or may not actually end up playing this game. But if nothing else, I am very excited to see more lore about the Five Syndicates. It’s been way too long since we have gotten a proper underworld story.

Maul final boss?. he does have his major crime syndicate thing going on with the crimson dawn

^The game is set between 3ABY-4ABY. So there won't be a boss battle with Maul.
