I hope if this order is rebuilt that they finally get rid off the attachment rule of not getting married.

Yes. I'm tired of the reboot constantly taking away all of Luke's successes and positive traits in order to prop up the new characters.
Yeah, maybe Rey will Mary some Jedi dude, and all those Galactic Republic jedi ghosts will be flabbergasted worse than Qui Gon getting ticked off at all those abdominal stab survivors.
^^^FR! I swear they’re making too easy for me to look to the legends as the true sequels. Luke was so much better written in the legends books! Not in terms of power, but as a character! Come to think of it, all the OT characters were written better in the legends books!
I guess we will see what Rey does when she builds the new Jedi Order
Or they should keep the attachment rule but be more tolerant of marriages.
The more I think about it, I get more conclusive with the idea that it'd be an immensely interesting concept if Rey's character would be used as the founder of a "brand new" Force institution of light siders, who are influenced and inspired by Jedi philosophy, but with their own interpretation and "doctrine".
An organisation of Force users with no fear to have their own government and laws, to make alliances with other systems and factions... an organisation that, later in the game, becomes its own society and civilization, which can serve as guardians and sentinels regarding the equilibrium of the universe. Rey's figure could be a "Charles Xavier" analogue, as the founder of something bigger than herself, in which she'll just set up the foundation stones of it and prepare others to carry the legacy.
Obviously, an idea that will never happen because the name Jedi is already a stablished one, and much more marketable.
There is a reason for the rules, kind of like what @/Revan.73 said. The ways of the Force are referred to as a religion in the first trilogy (by Imperial dudes speaking to Lord Vader I believe), and often times attachment is something associated with the Sith.
That doesn't mean it won't get changed by Rey (because Disney clearly enjoyed Reylo), but the purpose behind it is not falling into the same traps that the Sith did and I think changing it could cause problems (or plot devices!) in the future.
The most important thing about changes to the Jedi order is being independent from the Republic.
My thought on this that their association with the Republic ruined them especially on the politics.
Religion never mixes well with politics and it was proven how easily Sidious took them apart.
The best example is how they operated during the High Republic they helped the government but were a separate entity doing their own thing.
The other thing of the Jedi is also keeping themselves uninvolved from the common people completely ignoring them.
This is what made Sidious easily manipulate the public against them if the Jedi were actually helping the common people especially against slavery.
Everything Luke did in legends was excellent in my opinion in rebuilding the order he dismissed the original ways.
^Right! I mean he threw out the “no attachments” rule, he worked WITH the new republic not for them so the order could operate more freely and serve the people not the politicians, he taught his students how to control their dark side rather than pretend it didn’t exist, his order was strictly voluntary, and that’s just off the top of my head
What do you think?
