Honestly not as good as I thought it would be.
5/5
Really like Kino loy
It’s somewhere between three and four stars for me.
I do think it’s very well done and I enjoyed it, at least for the most part. But it didn’t captivate me anywhere as much as other SW-projects.
All in all, I enjoyed it, I‘d watch it again, I‘m looking forward to the second season, and there were some really outstanding moments. But my enthusiasm for this show overall is moderate
Hoping it was just set up for season 2. I would prefer things feel a little bit drawn out if its done well, then it be well paced but bad, if that makes sense.
^That‘s a fair point although I don’t think the main purpose of an entire season should be to serve as set-up for another season.
And personally, I thought the pacing of the first two episodes was too slow despite the quality being good.
Though pacing was only really an issue for me personally for the first few episodes. It’s not a main reason for my lack of enthusiasm about this show.
But I agree that a slower pacing with overall good quality is preferable to quicker pacing with lacking quality
^ I would like to hear what you dislike about the show.
That’s a good question.
To be quite honest, I actually don’t find many flaws in this show. Pretty much my only gripes are the pacing of the first two episodes and the dialogue in a few parts (this only a few times though, and less because of bad writing per se and more because I thought the respective dialogue was over the top eloquent and not all that natural anymore). Then there are a few (very few) parts where the writing didn’t really convince me.
But that’s it. As said before, I do think the show is very well made. And there are a few moments and even entire episodes that I didn’t just enjoy but actually loved (mainly Episode 6 and the final one).
But, yeah, the show didn’t really resonate with me and that’s pretty much due to subjective reasons. For example, it took me some time to get invested in the parts involving Mon Mothma. That doesn’t mean those parts are bad but they simply didn’t capture me all that much. So, it’s mainly a matter of preference.
I think another reason is that Andor is not quite what I expected it to be. That doesn’t make it bad, of course, but I believe I expected something more along the lines of crime and mystique. I may have overhyped this show in regard to certain expectations I had.
Finally, another reason as to why my enthusiasm for Andor cooled off is the fandom surrounding it. Admittedly not really fair towards the show, but after coming across multiple toxic, snobbish Andor-fans who harrassed other fans for not sharing the hype and who consistently put other SW-content down, I grew somewhat tired of it, especially since my enjoyment was never as high as most other fans‘ enjoyment to begin with. This is really not on the show itself but I personally can’t help but feel something‘s being overrated when the fans start to act out like that (not just in regard to Andor).
So, again, I don’t dislike the show and my moderate enjoyment is not necessarily due to me considering it badly made. It really mainly boils down to having a somewhat different taste, I guess
5 stars for sure
Thats fair. if its just come down to personal preference I can see that. have a good day.
What do you think?
