No one was asking for it. Sure, everyone liked Cassian but he’s not exactly a character fans were clamoring for more of. He was a good character that had his arc that was apparently already complete.

Another thing I find fascinating is the complete lack of marketability. A mature character-based drama is not what audiences expect from Star Wars. No Jedi, episodes consisting mostly of just talking, and a main character that straight up murders someone in cold blood in the very first episode.

There is almost Zero marketability going on here. Every other Star Wars movie/show since the dawn of time has had something that could be used to sell toys. Now I hardly can complain about that, seeing as many memories from my childhood were built around said toys but it is refreshing to see a piece of media that goes so heavily against marketability to kids.

I just can’t comprehend how this show got past the womp rats- I mean studio executives at Disney. Who did they suck up to get this green lighted? Maybe they had a slot to fill or something, who knows.

Anyway, I don’t know how it came to fruition but Andor is straight up the best thing that happened in Star Wars since ESB.

But I even going back to the initial marketing for The Mandalorian, when the fans only had a series name, but had no idea what the series was going to be about.

Everyone expected and WANTED a previously well known mandalorian to be be the star of the show, such as Boba Fett. ANd they expected it to be a fan service-y continuation of a prior storyline.

Little did anyone know we were going to get a completely new character, with a new storyline, Din Djarin, who fans got totally involved with, eventually! Sure, the series eventually tied in with other mandalorian story lines in later seasons, but what we got just for season one was a complete standalone in originality.

Pretty sure at least some of the dislikes are bots

I think most people are genuinely excited for the show, but do not have such high expectations for it because past shows Disney has made. Also no one can just judge the whole show based on the trailer.

The internet in general in any given space is going to be an echo chamber of opinions. YouTube tends to skew one way, Reddit another, Twitter its own, so on, so forth. The opinion seen by people on the internet, regardless of which way it goes, almost never represents the opinion of the majority and it's always best to go into anything with an open mind. Ignore the mindless hate and watch what you want to watch, and enjoy what you want to enjoy. You're no more or less of a Star Wars fan for it.

I was originally super hyped for this show, seeing as how I love high republic, but then the trailer dropped, and now I just don't know what to think. Maybe they'll hear all the bad feedback about the trailer and maybe change some stuff, but it's probably too late to do that. Or maybe it was just a bad trailer. The plot that go shown in the trailer just seems like something too little for it's own show. Maybe a book, but not a show. I thought this would tie in to the high Republic books more too, but I guess not. Oh, Well.

I mean, it was just a teaser trailer that barely revealed anything. I don’t think it’s fair to judge the show rn, there could be way more plot involved that they didn’t spoil in the trailer- in fact it seems like modern trailers have become so full of spoilers that whenever a trailer doesn’t spoil a lot, people say that there’s too little plot.

Vernestra appears in the trailer, and she’s from the High Republic books so maybe it’ll tie into it a little? Though I haven’t read the High Republic books themselves so I have no idea actually, this is just a guess.
