This episode was great! Initially, based on the clip that came out I thought it would be a filler-ish episode to cool down after all the action of the previous two-parter, but everything in the episode was relevant and important, even the Omega and Crosshair B plot. It seems like there really will be no filler in season 3, which is good. Speaking of filler, I think something TBB is really good at is making episodes that are extremely important to the plot, but also act as transition episodes or moments to cool down and explore character dynamics and emotional development. Usually in other shows stuff like that happens through filler, which isn’t bad but I like how TBB manages to incorporate everything into the plotline so that even the smaller character moments, like Omega and Crosshair’s meditation, leads back to it.
We finally got an answer for why Crosshair’s hand is shaky, and I wonder if we’ll ever get a flashback of what happened on Mount Tantiss from Crosshair’s POV, since the two episodes we got about Tantiss were all from Omega’s POV. It would be interesting to learn more about the CX clones and their relation to Crosshair (I’m surprised Hunter and the others didn’t ask him more about it this episode, like about how he and CX-1 seemed to immediately recognize each other as soon as they saw the other)
Fennec was honestly cooking lol, every word from her mouth somehow roasts TBB in some way. 😂 I love how she manages to be sassy but also be right and reasonable at the same time- like at the end when she said “You can either fight me, or trust me” which makes a good point since logically speaking fighting her wouldn’t TBB any good or get them the information they need, so the only thing they can do at that point is trust her.
Wow, that mantis alien (I forgot his name) sure is tough, being able to take like 10 stun bolts and not collapse. No wonder he was a hard bounty to catch.
I’m 99% sure the person Fennec contacted at the end was Ventress, because who else could it be? I doubt that it’s Cad Bane since he didn’t get along with either TBB or Fennec, and Ventress makes sense considering how she’s force-sensitive so she would naturally know about M-counts, and she’s a bounty hunter too so it would make sense if she knew Fennec. I’ve heard some people say that Fennec is selling TBB out, but I don’t think any of her conversation with the mysterious figure necessarily points to that? Like, she never said “Go kill the Bad Batch”, she simply told whoever it is to track them down- which means she’s fulfilling her end of the bargain and putting TBB in touch with someone who knows about M-counts. Sure, the music was kind of ominous, but to me the dialogue isn’t enough to indicates anything except that Fennec is being a good business partner.
The animation in season 3 so far is seriously amazing, especially the sunset shot while Omega and Crosshair are meditating.
I bet that Ventress will appear in the next episode “The Harbinger”. The title fits her in a way, and with only 7 episodes left, I doubt the Omega and M-count plotline will be left to hang for any more episodes than necessary. It would also fit nicely with the episodes after that being a two parter with one of them called “Identity Crisis”, since it’s likely Ventress will tell Omega something that’ll give her an identity crisis.
