Poltergeist was produced by Spielberg, makes sense. I haven't watched it in a while, but I vaguely remember some Star Wars toys in the kids room. Plus they were huge at the time and the kids would be the right age.

My ragged memory seems to think that a lot of films at the time, if they showed a kid's bedroom, had SW stuff in them.

There are SW toys in ET for sure.

And quite a few modern films have them in too. Argo and Ready Player One spring to mind.
