If you didn’t know, John Boyega who played Finn in the Sequels is actually British, but he did a fake American accent when playing Finn. Does anyone know why this is? Why didn’t he want Finn to have his British accent?

maybe because one main character was already British and usually the villains have such accents?
Undying Soldier, well I guess that answers my question. John didn’t think that the British accent really worked and him and JJ both agreed that the American accent was better for the character.
Yeah, I don't think it would have worked out...
Finn: *British accent* I'm a stormtrooper, I'm here to rescue you!
Poe: *American accent* ...Oh, f*ck no! You're lying with that British accent!
Finn: *British accent* Bloody hell. You can't curse in a Disney film, mate.
Of course, for the record, this is a bad joke on my part. I meant no offense here.
Really, I don't know if it would have worked or not. I can't go as far and say that characters can't have British accents and be good guys. Obi-Wan Kenobi had an English accent, and so does Rey, but then she is depicted as Palpatine's granddaughter, so that may be moot. Sadly, we may never know if Finn would have worked with a British accent or not since the filmmakers went the American route as well as the general English = Evil Empire mindset. Again, not to say that every English man or woman is evil, but there are quite few good ones in the Star Wars universe.
Yeah I know what you mean, but Ewan McGregor is actually Scottish not English btw.
Oh geez, bloody actors tricking us fans every time. Lol But still, regardless of the actor, it is the character speaking in that accent though. Granted, we are in a universe which can have explanations of why it's British/English, and yet not British/English.
What do you think?
