2 stars - Why? It because it was really slow going. You think they can explain the whole prison session in 1 episode instead of 3 LOOONG episodes. I REALLY hope season 2 will be a lot better considering the cliffhanger. Plus I don’t think it should be a PG-14 show…
5 Stars but for different reasons than what Revan enumerated above.
I don’t see Andor as proof that Star Wars should be more consistently adult oriented going forward, just that the series can do that if it wants to. I don’t think Andor is amazing because it’s “mature”, I think it’s amazing because it is, bar none, the product of more care, and uninhibited artistic integrity than any of its peers. We’ve seen flashes in Mando, Ahsoka, and even Kenobi, but none of these shows have offered the consistency that Andor brought to the table.
A more typical, light and fun Star Wars adventure can be just as spectacular as Andor if only it can be allowed or able to commit to its best qualities from start to finish, instead of, like the shows we have so far, being a mostly quality story interrupted by patches of noticeably poorer writing, and cliche narrative choices.
It's a decent show if it wasn't star wars. There were no aliens. No droids. Very little action. Everything that makes star wars what it is loved for is missing from Andor. It's a melodrama and a very slow paced one at that
^That's funny because that's why I loved it. It showed what else Star Wars can be besides a simple, 2-D action franchise. But I get where you're coming from.
^ I think the production value and cinematography is top notch. I wish the other live action series were on the same level in that aspect. But I just personally think star wars is at its best when there's cool aliens and droids and big battles and shoot outs. Star wars has always been a bit campy and over the top so Andor just felt underwhelming because they went for the more plot heavy approach which is fine but not my cup of tea
Pretty good, it just felt really slow and made like 40 minutes feel like a full hour
No droids. What about B2EMO?
I loved it because the show is something different. Not only did they make it a little more mature than other Star Wars shows, but they also allowed us to spend time with new characters or characters we don’t see that often and have them as main characters, like Mon Mothma. I also really like the shades of gray within the Rebellion they present in the show. With Luthen being a Rebel recruiter who is willing to sacrifice the lives of the people he recruits if the ends justify the means. Also seeing Cassian doing things that “heroes” wouldn’t normally do like murder 2 Pre-Mor security officers in cold blood.
We also get things more “adult” in general. Like Mon Mothma’s banker having to come and talk to her because 400,000 credits were missing from her bank account because she’s funding Rebels behind the Empire’s back. That’s not something we see in Star Wars a lot or really at all. It has a way more relatable, realistic, human approach than other Star Wars projects.
So I really love the show!
I give the show five stars
To me it’s the second best live action show after The Mandalorian
