It’s no secret that Stormtroopers cannot seem to use ranged weapons to save their own lives. This is even true when their enemies are standing less than 30 feet away. The logical solution to this seems to be to give them melee weapons to make them more convincing threats. The one trooper we see wielding an electro-baton managed to be a serious challenge to beat, and was only killed by being shot in the back with a heavy weapon. With even slightly stronger armor, melee stormtroopers would be a serious threat.
