Man, people sure do enjoy pretending that Thrawn is a good guy.Thrawn definitely isn’t a good guy- but can he really top Krennic, who was responsible for a weapon that wiped out billions?
They're both evil. I find it hard to compare because the things they did were very different.
Thrawn is an altruistic evil while Krennic is someone driven by the idea of promotion and success. Both can be capable of terrible things in the wrong hands.
Thrawn differs depending on who is writing him. Zahn portrays a more nuanced anti hero in the current canon while Filoni sticks to a more early EU stance on his morality. The Ahsoka show heavily stated that Thrawn would commit genocide if he returned, a fact he does not deny. Not to mention his supreme intelligence and cunning. Peridia seems to have taught him to sacrifice the pawns to achieve sucess. Time will tell on his stance on civilians (Lothal no withstanding). The pursuit of the greater good can lead to the most horrible things when the ends justify the means.
Krennic is more chaotic, he is a humanocentrist like much of the Empire but one driven by pure ambition. He sees himself as an important cog on a machine that will just as easily replace him. He has no limits in proving his worth. After all, he murdered Galen Erso's wife without hesitation. Was going to destroy the entire moon of Jedha before Tarkin issued they only destroy the Holy City. Krennic will let very little get in his way (only his relatively low rank actually hinders him)
Overall though, more evil? Thrawn has greater potential to be so he has my vote. Though Krennic is no slouch by any means. Never underestimate the underdog.
Thrawn isn’t really evil in his books, he’s generally either the protagonist or at worst an anti-hero. The shows make him a cartoon villain.
I say Thrawn is more evil compared to Krennic
Yeah the characters are so different that they are very hard to compare in terms of who is more “evil.”
Thrawn made sure Grand Admiral Savit (I think it was him) didn't stop the construction of the Death Star, even though he thought TIE Defenders were better for the Empire than the battlestation. However he still protected it from enemy forces for the interests of the Empire. He is loyal only to the Empire and his people based off his beliefs.
Krennic is only a corrupt man who seeks power
I don’t know if either of them is truly “evil”. Not like Palpatine evil. Krennic is just an ambitious A hole that only cares about his own reputation and standing. Thrawn on the other hand is the complete opposite. He doesn’t care about his social status or the rank on his chest. He cares about perfecting his tradecraft (i.e. war) and winning said war. He is loyal to the emperor, but i think that’s because he’s one of those genuinely honorable people that doesn’t swap sides or backs down. Krennic is the type that will stab someone in the back to get ahead, Thrawn is the type that respects his opponent.
Misclicked.
