Suggestions open for Interactive Maps!

So Wookieepedia editors have been experimenting with Interactive Maps, which is a new tool recently introduced by Fandom on the wiki. You can see all of Wookieepedia's Interactive Maps here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Special:AllMaps

The maps we've got now are mainly used to identify specific locations or groups of characters, but there is plenty more potential with the tool. Currently, only administrators can make and edit Interactive Maps, and they aren't included in actual articles yet, but there is discussion among editors to widen the scope of its use.

Meanwhile, I want to bring this to everyone on the Discussions forums here and ask: what do you want to see? The whole concept of Interactive Maps is still in its infancy, so any suggestions for tweaking existing maps, what new maps should be made, how/where they should be included on wiki pages etc. are welcome!

So cool! I’d love to see maybe something for the Jedi Temple, some Yavin 4 stuff, Vader’s Castle, and the Death Star I and II!

Great idea.

I, for one, would like to see more like this map.

There are tonnes of moments in the films and shows that feature masses of characters with interesting names and backstories.

I’d love to see one for The Mos Eisley cantina patrons, the Coruscant underworld denizens or the gamblers at Canto Bight.

I think it’d be a more fun and convenient way to learn about some of the intriguing inhabitants of the galaxy that are not that well known.

Cross-sections of various locations could be fun to see as well, though I don’t know to what degree that’s actually possible because using official cross-sections is basically like pirating.

Edit: Some of the galaxy maps seem to be a bit lackluster as well, maybe they could be edited to include more links or descriptions?

I've shared most my thoughts in separate bursts on the Discord server, but I'll put them here for the benefit of the thread. The first idea I'll reiterate is having smaller maps as a supplement in articles like campaigns. I've attached an image of a test run where I include the Galaxy map (zoomed into the Kuat label because I was mucking around) in Operation Ringbreaker, where I feel that a minimap showing where the locations of the battles were in the Galaxy would be a pretty fun addition. However, it doesn't need to just be that either, the Theed locations map being put in the locations section of the Theed article (same with Black Spire), or say picture of a council in a certain scene of some sorts for the member section of said council's article could help readers put name to face.

The other idea I've coined before is the possibility (if coding allows it) of making the links to the coordinates on articles go straight to it's marker on the Galaxy map, effectively showing the reader where the location fits into the Galaxy. I'm sure there'd be a good way to scale that down to a situation like the Theed map as well.

I could list more examples for these but I think this summarises what I'm thinking enough.

It'd be nice to see something like that with the KOTOR galaxy map, maybe clicking on each planet would show the in-game description

Very nice, good ideas from everyone. And yeah, a main feature of Interactive Maps is how one can learn about a group of related subjects that may be a familiar sight, be it the Death Star, a crowd of characters, the good ol' galaxy maps, or just R2-D2, but whose component parts aren't necessarily well-known.
