Then everything would go to normal.
Basically what I'm asking is if Anakin gave into his anger when killing Palpatine and turned to the Dark Side like Palpatine wanted? Or would Anakin fulfill his role as the Chosen One and killed Palpatine in the name of bringing balance to the Force and protecting the Galaxy? Sorry about the lack of detail but the post description has a limit of 100 letters and or characters so I couldn't type out the full question until now.
Well in that case it’s hard to say. Personally I doubt him killing Palpatine would result in him turning to the Dark Side so I’ll have to go with the latter. This is assuming of course that Anakin attacking him right there and then was completely unexpected by Palpatine and that said unexpected attack is enough to do Palpatine in, given that Vader was able to surprise Palpatine over Endor I’d say that it’s indeed possible.
I agree with that 100%
In a weird workaround way, Anakin still brought balance to the Force. The Jedi were getting stronger and becoming a little bit more bold, rather than remaining the usual peacekeepers one thought of when they think of the term “Jedi”.
So by eradicating most of the Jedi was a bit of an extreme and definitely cruel, in the end he did balance the Force.
Luke and Leia were the only “Jedi” or light-side force users left alive after Yoda passed.
Darth Sidious and Darth Vader were the only two Sith left alive.
Throw out the idea that balance is a numbers game. It's not. Balance comes when Anakin kills Sidious in Return of the Jedi, ending the Sith (and it's preserved as Rey stops his return). It's because the Sith's influence on the galaxy is gone, not because of a population count.
With that in mind, Anakin could totally have brought balance by ending Sidious right there. That's part of the tragedy of the prequels.
I've replaced the image in the original post with a clip of the actual scene. Right as Anakin draws his saber, Palpatine frantically twitches his hand behind his back, as if ready to defend himself. Interpret that information how you will.
^That hand twitch alone convinces me that if Anakin actually tried to kill Palpatine right then and there he would’ve been prepared to counter that. Palpatine has spent years planning for Anakin’s turn to the dark side. I have no doubt he would’ve planned for the slight possibility that things didn’t go his way here.
But what what if there was a very deep chasm nearby without protection by any handrails whatsoever?
Could Anakin, in a moment of bravery, decide to hurl Palpatine down that convenient chasm and just bite the bullet while getting electro jolted?
Its not like Anakin didn’t eventually do that a few decades later.
Well I think everyone would have been shocked
Not sure if he would have been banned from the Jedi Order
Or maybe no one would have know if who killed him
^^ There is the window to Palpatine's office... but Anakin whips out his saber way deeper inside the office, it'd be too far considering Palpatine definitely seemed prepared to fight back
Although given that this is straight-up Anakin, who we see is pretty well-built and decently fast, he might well out-speed Palpatine and, well... cut his head off before Palpatine could react considering Palpatine would have to whip out his saber, ignite it, and then bring it to his throat, which Anakin was pointing his saber at right then...
Wouldn't take much effort on Anakin's part to just thrust forward, which Palpatine recognized.
It's why Palpatine was so heavy-handed with the idea that only he could teach Anakin the things he wanted to know: it was the only way to get Anakin to put his weapon down and leave, because he was otherwise dead.
What do you think?
