These are really well done, don't beat yourself up! I struggle vector drawing characters, and I'm an artist. It's a lot harder to get the subtle curves and shading but you nailed that here!

And don't ever be ashamed using/tracing templates, it's a great way to learn how to draw specific things (I'd be lying to say I didn't do it too.) I really struggle with faces as well - I typically draw masked characters so I don't have to draw them. So I applaud you for giving it a try - it worked out really well! Thanks for sharing this with us!
