Definitely not those novels are my least favorite thing to come out of the post ROTJ legends content. Jacen’s transition to Darth Caedus is not much better than Kylo Ren for me. Everything inspirational and unique about his character was replaced by a man who thought the ends always justified the means even if that meant killing his own family.
Speaking of the Skywalker family Mara and Jaina’s characters were completely ruined for me as well. Jaina was literally pimped out to the Fel Dynasty and she thrusted herself into a death duel with her own brother. He tried to tell her that he wanted her help to look after his daughter but she completely ignored him and struck him down in cold blood. Mara reverted back to the cold blooded assassin she was before she became a Jedi and a member of the Skywalker family. Mara didn’t even try to reach Jacen before he had gone too far and we know she has the ability to pull others back from the dark side. She used her experiences with the dark side to save her master Kyle from the dark side. Denning’s writing didn’t even try to incorporate any of Mara’s development into her confrontation with Jacen.
Anyways, as much as I don’t like the sequels, the LOTF novels aren’t much better imo and they’re the one piece of post ROTJ legends that I wouldn’t incorporate into anything.
No. To be fair, if nothing else, Canon should build its own Legacy Saga and storyline far away and beyond the Skywalkers. Because even though they’re the “Chosen linage” of the Force and used every now and then by it to bring balance and change the fates of the galaxy, the Force is not about them only. A simple idea I’d suggest is using Grogu as an instrument to move forward the timeline through centuries, and becoming an element that connects the past and the future like an off-screen narrator, idk. As a matter of fact, Waititi stated the other day that his SW film intents to expand the universe, and all the recent speculations might suggest it’ll be post Episode IX, just like Rogue Squadron, we just don’t know how forward it’d be. If it’ll be called Legacy of the Force, that’s another thing.
Closing, regarding Legends: it doesn’t bother me the idea of a particular generation of the Skywalker linage falling to the dark side and messing up the galaxy again. It seems like a poetic metaphor of mankind civilization’s eternal loop of progress and self-destruction, which is cyclical, but more intense and impactful with each new generation. The Skywalkers represent that, besides of adding the point I quoted on the paragraph above regarding their metaphysical connection with the Force and their duty with the fate of the universe as a Chosen bloodline. The execution of it nonetheless, as well as the narrative progress of the characters is what might ruin it for some people, which is fine. Which is the similar situation regarding the sequels, but besides of the execution, the lack of main general vision.
I still think the Thrawn trilogy would be better suited.
I love the sequel trilogy along with every other live action movie and show
They might be adapting the some of legends thrawn trilogy in to the Mandalorian and it’s related shows if there bringing in grand admiral thrawn into live action
Yes, but it would have had to been done close to perfect.
Ideally they just should’ve done the Thrawn trilogy. But given the actors age they probably should’ve went with the Yuuzhan Vong War. Would’ve been interesting seeing the Reps and the Imperials fighting side by side against a new threat on the big screen.
I accidentally clicked no but I meant yes 100%.
