The first two prequels are bad because they have horrible writing and cringy acting (not the actors fault…it was abominable scripts), although I do applaud the core story that runs through the prequels and provides a satisfying conclusion with ROTS.
The sequel trilogy has the exact opposite problem. Decent scripts and genuinely believable and engaging characters. It just doesn’t know its ass from its face when it comes to a coherent story across the trilogy. There is a lot to say about the goodness of TFA and TLJ from a film making standpoint. If TLJ didn’t conflict with the other two movies it might have been a great trilogy. Once TLJ came out and JJ was brought back to try and somehow salvage his own vision, TROS and the whole trilogy was doomed.
