^STs primary function was to act as capital ships and transport a large number of troops it didn't need to be a straighter carrier since the Empire had developed ships with the sole purpose of transporting Starfighters we see one of them in Rebels but in the republic the only ships that ware available to the republic to fufill the role of carrying Starfighters effectively was the Venator and a giant station that I cant remember the name of

Their standard armament was a lot weaker than even the smaller Victory class, with only 8 dual turbolaser batteries compared to the Victory's 8 quad batteries and the Imperial's octuple batteries

Also the hangar's a lot longer than 500 meters, it runs (essentially) the entire length of the vessel up to just past the bottom of the superstructure

That's closer to 700 meters given the Venator is a little over 1100 meters long in total and, at its widest, 548 meters wide (it averages probably closer to 250 meters)

We've seen in TCW that Venators are multi-level, having 2 separate hangar levels that can by cycled between with large central elevators

So considering the widest fighters, ARC-170s, are about 20 meters wide, and the longest, Y-Wings, are about 20 meters long, and those are the exceptions, not the rule, (most of the fighters are closer to 10 by 10, like V-19s and Eta-2s) I don't think it's inconceivable that a Venator, given a little bit of finagling, could stock a grand total of 420 fighters

The fighter complement page is kind of confusing. 192 Eta-2's, but we've only seen Jedi fly them. It has 192 V-wings/V-19 torrents, so it might be 192 of any of the 3, which would make it 228

420 could also be a joke...

In practice many Venators also had LAATs and assorted ground vehicles stocked, so yeah it's probably closer to 200 fighters

I think one thing we forget is the central hangar, the side hangars and the storage space underneath the central hangar which could probably hold at least as many fighters. This gives a hangar by of a much larger capacity ( at least double - probably closer to 3 or four times). And then we see in clone wars they up can hold two fighters back. So opinion, no doubt - it can definitely hold that many craft.

The Nimitz class Aircraft Carriers that the US Navy uses are 1,092 feet long and can hold a maximum of 130 F-18s (Fixed Wing Aircraft) with many other rotary aircrafts.

But on average the amount of F-18s on a carrier is 65.

A Venator is about 1100 meters long, or over triple the length of the Nimitz... plus it's a lot taller I'm pretty sure (not even counting the superstructure, just the main hull)

Considering an F-18 is... honestly pretty comparable to, say, a V-Wing, 420 is probably an acceptable number for maximum carrying capacity
