We are finally hear folks. The long awaited finale for Kenobi has come. The series as a whole definitely has its ups and downs and will probably be controversial for some time. As for the finale in particular, I’m not sure if it’s the best episode, but it was a relatively strong conclusion in my opinion.
We finally have the long awaited rematch between Obi-Wan and Vader. Although I wasn’t initially fond of the idea of the two reuniting, the duel was pretty damn entertaining. I’ll say that I was very annoyed of the shaky camera more than ever and wasn’t a fan of cutting back and forth to Reva. Everything else about the duel was very fun and unexpectedly heartbreaking if I’m being honest. Seeing Vader’s face beneath the broken mask in live action while hearing a mixture of Hayden Christianson and James Earl Jones was chilling.
Regarding the Reva plot, I personally wasn’t a fan to be honest. I had hoped she would remain an antagonist until the very end and believe episode 5 would’ve been a good, albeit tragic, end for her character. I suppose Reva’s story will continue in her rumored spinoff?
On the other hand, what I liked most about Reva’s plot was Owen and Beru. They’re both some badass moisture farmers. I’m also glad that Luke never truly saw Reva and her saber to understand who exactly was chasing him. I laughed when Obi-Wan said “hello there” lol.
The two major cameos of this episode were pretty awesome. We finally get to see force ghost Qui-Gon after all this time. Granite, I would’ve liked to have gotten more, but I’ll honestly take what we got. I genuinely wasn’t expecting Palpatine, so that was a fun little surprise.
