I voted for the last option, but honestly, all of it.
Here is my definitive exegesis about him that explains why:

All of the above plus his story, I love how he rose up from nothing just a no name on apatros to a master of the darkside and creator of the Rule of Two. His lightsaber skills were amazing, you can see this during the fight after zannah led the jedi to him by accident. His mastery of the darkside shows when he invaded Anddedus Holocron to gain the power he was looking for. And his schemes showed when he almost took over Zannahs body but just didn't have more will than her.
All of them, ALL OF THEM!!!
Darth Bane is supposed to be THE greatest lightsaber duelist of all time.
While Darth Revan had a similar method involving how many apprentices for a Sith to train at a time that inspired Bane when coming up with his Rule of Two, it was Bane himself who decided that there could only be two Sith at any given time. Because of him the Sith's infighting no longer jeopardized their order and in turn allowed them to grow stronger over a thousand years as they made way and claimed revenge on their most hated enemies and took over the galaxy.
I voted for the background. He has an awesome backstory and origins, and they were fun to read into. However, my absolute least favorite part of him would have to be his creation of the Rule of Two. I just hate that code.
Edit: ^^Can you provide a link or quote for that? Im not 100% certain that’s accurate… pretty sure that one goes to one of a couple other Sith.
I find all of these aspects compelling about him but my favorite aspects about him are 1) his schemes and manipulations and 2) his backstory and personality. I really enjoyed reading about his training as Sith, how he grows more powerful, more skillful, more ruthless. The first book of the trilogy is my favorite part (although they are definitely all great) since it portrays his manipulation of the other Sith and how he outwits them, it was fascinating to read how his disdain for the other Sith grows and how he plots against them (like all the others are plotting against each other, too, just less skillfully than Bane, lol). I also liked reading about his philosophies about the dark side.
He's a pretty well developed character, too, in my opinion. His turn from an average miner (average in terms of morals and mindset) to a powerful, absolutely ruthless Sith Lord was done well and pretty fluently
