Ok so I've been going through a couple of things and I noticed something.
1. The E-11 blaster is the SIDEARM of the Imperial Stormtroopers/Army. I have noticed at least 3 sources, The Essential Guide to Weapons, Fact File 13 v3 and the Visual Dictionary EPs 4-6.
The last one is important, because that's where the author actually went in and consulted the LF archives at Skywalker Ranch, ILM consultants of the various props, characters and costumes! You couldn't get any closer to the movies than this.
Even moreso all the other sources I've seen for the E-11, just states that it's standard issue, but that doesn't mean anything in regards to a Stormtrooper's main rifle.
It's like their equivalent of a sidearm, or to look at it better, a Medieval Knight's sword...because it is at THEIR SIDE, it's literally holstered at their side.
Let's look at another Knight example, we see in many media that a Knight uses a sword mostly right? But we know a Knight's main weapon wasn't a sword, it was their sidearm, in actual battle they used much bigger and deadlier weapons. Same thing applies with Stormtroopers and the E-11.
Even moreso this brings me to the DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle.
Shouldn't THIS be noted to be the Imperial Army/Stormtrooper Corps main battle rifle, considering how much it pops up within various comics/novels and so forth? Also I dunno where this quote comes from...
"The DLT-19 was not as popular or as well-known as the standard-issue E-11 blaster rifle, because it took longer to assemble and load."
^ Where is this from? All sources I have regarding the DLT-19, says nothing about this. Also it being not well known is completely contradicted within the same article, being noted to be commonly carried by both the Stormtrooper Corps and the Imperial Army.
Before anyone says anything and bring up the OT, majority of the time we never see a full engagement between ground forces, we see small skirmishes in locations where the E-11 blaster fits perfectly, because that's how they are noted to work, they fit in tight quarters and installations.
Endor is the only outlier, but taking into account the CONTEXT that the Imperial Forces there weren't going to fight, they were basically handicapped during that battle. All that they had been sent to do, was capture a Rebel Strike Force, which they did....they weren't anticipating a full on battle, so of course they wouldn't be equipped properly.
Mos Eisley is a perfect scene of Stormtroopers being properly equipped with much bigger blasters as we saw. More than half of the Troops we see, were equipped with much bigger blasters.
