I agree with ^^^ on those things, I can try to add a little though. About the trilogy, it was great to me and I think the biggest problem for it was that it had to fit in with Rebels. I am one of those people who doesn't like the space whale ending. The books did a good job not making it all about what happens in the show (kid's show I guess so you can't have morally gray villains) and telling an original story. I really liked all the hints to what is happening in the Unknown Regions.
Yes, the plan reasoning is pretty crazy. However, that kind of thing is part of his character I think. In Legends he's actually able to tell how many people moved between two ships from a recording. As for the title, like Byib said it's basically all of them. Sure, Thrawn is rooting out treason in the Empire, but he's also kind of committing it. You can see this little part in the conversation we see with Palpatine at the end. There is a theory that Palpatine planned a punishment for Thrawn because of this and Ezra actually saved him. I'm okay with that, though I think there could've been a better way to do it. I mean . . . space whales? Seriously? There is such thing as hyperdrive malfunction that would lead to the same outcome. Or something else maybe idk.
The big reveal is most likely supposed to be that Savit is a traitor, or at least that's what would make the most sense. Or there could be no big reveal. There's not necessarily one in every book.
I agree that Thrawn is a lot more developed character-wise in the other trilogy (canon). I think this might be because of what I said earlier about the Imperial one having to fit into what Rebels did. I recommend reading the Ascendancy books if you're into the subject (the Unknown Regions issue).
