Do you like the idea of the first order or do you think it was a terrible idea?

In universe, it’s kinda cool. With that being said, it had potential to actually be something interesting. But unfortunately because of lazy writing, the First Order just ended up being a Dollar General brand version of the Empire. Just like how how Rey and Kylo were cheap knockoffs of Bastila Shan and Revan.
(this is in my experience/what I have learned) The empire was better and Kylo Ren wasn't trained in the skills of the lightsaber and can't controll his anger.
The first order stormtrooper helmets where really cool but the troopers themselves can't get a single headshot.
The flametrooper(in battlefront 2) is total bantha fodder and is nothing compared to the republic commando.
Captain phasma's armor was taken from palpitine's yatch.
What I don't like is the idea of the New Republic being so incompetent and so short-sighted that it completely missed the First Order growing up under its very nose.
The First Order did learn from the mistakes the Empire made. For example, the AT-M6 had wire cutters on both of its front legs. This was a precaution in case the Resistance had those old snow speeders from the battle of Hoth. And the way they treat their troops is different. While the Empire saw their Stormtroopers and TIE fighter pilots as simple cannon fodder; the First Order treated them as critical military assets. Though they still used the old method of dehumanizing that the Empire did. So it was kind of a good idea.
Not a terrible idea necessarily but terribly executed.
The First Order is fine but the writing is terrible and the Sith Eternal faction kinda makes them irrelevant why not just make everybody A sith eternal member it would’ve been far more interesting.
Instead we got a half copy of the Empire superweapons and all.
I feel like that battlefront 2 should have turned the sith trooper to an enforcer unit and same with the flametrooper cos I forgot what class da sith trooper is
As a concept? It's interesting because it's a different take on the Remnant: rather than a fractured empire tripping over itself to reclaim its former glory, it's a horde of indoctrinated shadow collectives striking out against a galaxy they believe is rightfully theirs
Unfortunately the execution was terrible and despite being the remnants of a losing faction they somehow rolled over the dominant power in the galaxy with so little effort that it's baffling
If the New Republic in Disney's Canon wasn't utterly incompetent I'd honestly tolerate the First Order a lot more because then you could have a dynamic of a really strong front being presented to cover a roiling mass of stupidity on the inside vs an outwardly maybe not totally cohesive whole that's still stable enough to get things done.
And when the group you're trying to establish as an evil faction is essentially space Neo-Nazis, that's probably the only viable faction dynamic that would make much sense, like, at all.
@Red5T65 I'm guessing in another word, Good concept but bad execution
^ A bit of a running theme with the Sequels, I'll be honest
The Prequels, too, but to a lesser extent
What do you think?
