Sadly, every fandom has two sides to its community.

A lot of Star Wars fans are at war with each other on what continuity is better, what show is the best, etcetera.

I may disagree with someone, but I respect their opinions most of the time (Unless its something to do with harassing an actor, etc). I'm a big canon geek, but I respect those who geek for legends.

Hopefully you can settle the whole toxic SW fan situation, that way you can enjoy Star Wars with other (less toxic) members of the fandom.

^Arguing about a topic is ok, but this goes definetely to far. I had some bad experiences with toxic fans too, but that's another level of toxicity.

@The Senate 50 Yeah, happened a few years back on reddit. Someone got very upset at my stance on the main Star Wars subreddit... besides saltierthancrait and saltierthankrayt it can be a very hostile subreddit. If I recalled correctly I said that the Sequels were actually a step back for females compared to the EU and that set off some account who I believe thought I was female and they went nuts on me. They got banned within the hour by reddit themselves, not the mods.

^That's pretty scary. Reddit seems to be a toxic place regarding SW in general. I used to "hang around" the Prequel-sub for a while after I made an account there. But nowadays, I look rarely into this sub anymore - or generally, SW-subs on Reddit. Toxic SW-fans of all kinds - OT-fans, PT-fans, ST-fans. Of course, there are also reasonable people over there but they seem to be the minority. You'd think, for example, that the purpose of the Prequel-sub was to enjoy the Prequels but instead, people seem to use rather the opportunity to either bash the Sequels or the Prequels (and their respective fans). Definitely not a safe space for SW-fans. Never cared to comment there for this reason.

Basically, the only reason I'd care to take a look at the SW-part of Reddit is because of the memes. Definitely not because of the community. I also never had the impression that the mods cared about maintaining a somewhat peaceful mood on there. Your experience seems to confirm that.

The community on the Wook is sooo much more enjoyable (at least from my experience). Although debates can get out of hand here, too, the overall mood seems a lot healthier, at least to me (and the mods are actually doing a good job). There are definitely toxic SW-communities where people get attacked (sometimes even threatened) because of differing opinions but I really wouldn't add the Wook to those. People disagree with each other here probably just as much as on other online communities but in a much more civilized way (in general)
