^ Agreed, that was so much better in Legends.
Better plots, from what I've read
I wonder if Disney could be on par with Legends after 20 more years?
^maybe but personally I wouldn’t bet on it due to the current lack of quality control. Folks can like the new Canon all they like, as is their prerogative, but they have to admit that the current strategy of Disney Lucasfilm is quantity over quality.
^^ On the route were on now I'd say no. They have to many problems to get anywhere near as good as the EU was, like Lingering on certain characters and time periods to much, adding useless retcons to prior stated source material, Disney not wanting to take the risk and use the time period they created for future SW content. I think if something at Disney doesn't change im not sure much good will come from the next 20 years.
If it makes hundreds of books and comics of variable quality and questionable necessity. If it has beautiful highs praised and turgid lows defended by loudly fanatic and stubborn ultras.
Then yes, it will be on par with Legends.
^^^^Like Diamond said, this quantity over quality schedule they currently got going on is definitely not going to put them on par with legends anytime soon. They have an entire era they could tap into and possibly improve (especially for those who have no love for that era). They could possibly win some fans back if they made a successful tv series in the sequel era.
They could also expand their horizons by making more antagonist centric storylines. The Acolytes is a good start (assuming it stays focused on the antagonist), but we definitely need more than just that one tv series. There are some many comics and novels in legends dedicated to an antagonist that doesn’t become a protagonist. Even Boba’s awesome canon comics don’t have the same effect for me now knowing what he’ll become in BOBF.
@Diamond O'Connel I'm quite sure that leadership of Lucasfilm would change in 20 years. With the amount of SW toxicity I don't think it'll be too long until Kennedy and the current folks step down, and when that happens I feel like Filoni would take over and change things for the better. This is complete speculation and I don't exactly know how any of this works, but something has to change in 20 years.
^We can only hope, but I’d argue that this expectation is a bit too optimistic.
^^Also Filoni is one of the executive producers responsible for so many retcons. Heck he retconned Kanan and Depa’s order 66 scene just to shove the Bad Batch in it.
What do you think?
