@Swatteam123 I find your disappointment somewhat understandable when it comes to fans completely disregarding Legends material despite there being really great stories among Legends-stuff. Of course, not everything is to everyone's taste but it does seem strange when fans say they prefer Canon simply because they don't know anything about Legends. So, I understand your disappointment in this case.
But I feel somewhat obliged to defend Quinlan's Canon version. I admittedly don't know his Legends version (which is why I wouldn't vote on a poll as the one you mentioned) but his Canon CW-version was an absolute joy to me. Quite frankly, I love him, in all his craziness. That said, I haven't read his Canon novel so I can't speak for that specific portrayal but I really enjoyed his version in the TV-show and I honestly wish he would have appeared in further episodes. So, I personally can see why people would enjoy this version of his
@SagaSeeker Quinlan was in a bunch of comics by John Ostrander, mainly Republic. I never was crazy about the character either way, personally. But I prefer (gulp) the TCW version just because he had more personality. The EU guy has a backstory, but he mostly pouts all the time and acts dark. But if the other EU fans like him that way, it's okay!
@VaderBoyee I haven’t watched that video but title sounds accurate lol
@SagaSeeker Like you said everyone has different taste which is perfectly fine but yeah I definitely find it a little disheartened that some people voted for his canon version purely because they don’t know his legends version. It still makes sense though, I mean you’re going to go with the option you know. I personally didn’t really enjoy his TCW interpretation because he felt like too much of a joke character and a hippie. He literally didn’t feel like a Jedi in any way to me, he felt more a like a drug dealer who was smoking what he was selling 😂.
Then when I started diving into legends within the past year and I saw how much of his storyline was eradicated for this hippie version of him, I became even more disappointed in his canon portrayal. This is just how I look at it and I know not everyone is going to share my point of view. I just feel like there’s a major difference in writing quality between his canon and legends interpretation. Not to mention, like you stated he only had a one time onscreen appearance. He was so insignificant in canon compared to all of his major character arcs and storylines in legends.
@Swatteam123 It's a guy swearing and ranting for literally forty minutes, never offering any proofs that many any sense except something like "Eeth Koth's supposed to be dead", which sounds more like a guy with a severe hatred for Filoni rather than you and Diamond's unbiased speculation.
^Ahhh, one of those pure hatred without any backing types. Nevermind I have no interest in watching that. I feel like if you’re going to object to something at least state some valid reasoning.
^^Are we talking about Jax Vos or The Jedi Archivist here?
Or are we talking about Captain Fordo (YouTube Channel)?
@VaderBoyee Thanks for the information. Also nice to know that I'm not the only one who enjoyed his rather carefree appearance in that one CW-episode!
@Swatteam123 As said before, Legends does have a lot of great stories, so, I guess it's not very surprising that they came up with an appealing background for Quinlan. About him giving the impression that he's more like a hippie than an actual Jedi, it's understandable to view him that way. Although I think he adds to the "diversity" of the Jedi in regard to their personalities: although the Jedi are united by the same (or very similar) set of values (or at least, that should be the case), they can still show various different personalities. There are morn stern and reserved Jedi like Mace Windu and Luminara Unduli, but there are also more humorous, less reserved Jedi like Obi-Wan; there are calmer, caring Jedi like Plo Koon and Yoda, and then there are the more reckless, chaotic Jedi like Anakin and Quinlan. So, I personally felt like he added more to that diversity than being out of place.
Though I guess his Canon version does seem to be sillier than his Legends version, so, it's understandable that you'd prefer his other version
The way I see to fix it and a few others do is to look at how the Clone Wars is presented. Fanfare, snappy statement and description of events... Exactly how WW2 US Propaganda films were directed... The way many seem to have a fix is that TCW is Republic/COMPNOR propaganda and the Clone Wars Multimedia project is the true events in the Legends timeline
@Diamond O'Connel Fordo. He annoys me!
What do you think?
