None of the main characters need a show. Put them in a show, sure (as long as it makes sense), but they don't need a solo series (pun intended). I'd rather see something new, especially since there are so many shows out
Canon. Particularly one about her when she's younger. Maybe an animated series using the same style as Rebels.
More Leia before Rogue One.
Yes.
I mean since we know her through cannon, I don't know what other story would be told other than what we didn't see with in between Episode VI and Episode VII
As for Legends I am not familiar with any so I guess that could work too
I mean would I rather see her in a broken marriage, giving up her son to become a Jedi, quiting be a Jedi herself, then leading a ragtag group to basically no effect, then dying...
Or would I rather her actually in a great marriage with 3 kids (and 1 grandkid) who she doesn't have to give up to do this, having her own kickass girl team (Winter, Mara, Iella, Mirax, Saba), actually running the galaxy for decades, and becoming a Jedi Knight near Jedi Master...
Hmmm... tough Choice. But I'm definitely going with the later opinion, aka Legends.
A lot of people would rather have had a great marriage with lots of excellent, badass children but, you know, life and shit.
^Exactly why we don't want it in our fantasy escapism stories.
I grew up in a family broken by divorce, I don't want to watch one of my heroes basically going through that, giving up her kid, then said kid being so broken by it that the force itself tells Luke to kill them in their sleep (per Rian Johnson). I mean, wth type of message is that?
I'd much rather watch a story of my hero overcoming challenges, like balancing her work, motherhood & family, plus being a damn hero. Though of course struggling now and then with it, so getting help.
Fair enough, I understand why you don't want that in stories.
I can believe how Leia and Luke both became what they became. And Han. It's in some ways depressing but life frequently is and I prefer that to be reflected in the fiction I enjoy.
Of all the OT greats and my favourite human in SW, Leia is the character that changes least. She's still plugging away at evil despite the relentless pain in her relationships.
^To be fair she still does that in legends too after Chewie’s death and as much as I hate to bring it up she still does what’s best for the galaxy when Jacen becomes Darth Caedus.
Legends Leia show probably set after the Battle of Endor showing how she helped create the New Republic.
What do you think?
