So, a while ago, I made a poll about who would shoot first, Han or Cad Bane, mostly as a joke, which got deleted immediately for obvious reasons. But I was thinking, who actually would shoot first, so I took it way too seriously and (tried to) time it to see who would actually shoot first.
I took all the quick draw gun duels I could think of in Star Wars, where both people start with their guns holstered and then draw. Funnily enough, this actually disqualifies the Han v Greedo scene.
I watched all but one video in x.1 speed and subtracted my very slow reaction time, so it should be decently accurate. ish
For context, irl, the record is .16 seconds, by Bob Munden. The average looks to be around .5 to 1 second, from what I can find
Han Solo- TESB, Vader
Han's probably in shock here, so I didn't count his reaction time, but his draw is .64 seconds, the slowest out of anyone here
Cad Bane- BoBF, TBB
Cad Bane has like 3 duels, courtesy of his magnificent hat
The Bad Batch, S1E8: Reaction time is .11 sec (half the human average, 3.5 times faster than mine...), draw is .25 sec
Book of Boba Fett, against Cobb Vanth: this one's edited to switch between them, so I doubt the time's accurate, but reaction time is .33 s, draw is .85 s
Book of Boba Fett, against Boba Fett: same as last- Bane draws first, .52 s
Boba Fett- BoBF
Reaction time is .10 s, draw is .5 s, with a rifle instead of a pistol. He also misses, so not sure this one counts...
Cobb Vanth- BoBF
Reaction time is .27 s, draw is .22.
Din Djarin- The Mandalorian
Reaction time is .87 seconds, but might be because Lang just surrendered, draw is .31 s.
Sabine Wren- Rebels
Reaction time is .15 s, draw is .33. Accurate enough to disarm Rau instead of kill him, though. Unlike another Mandalorian...
Well, after this unnecessarily long post, it looks like the fastest draw goes to Cobb Vanth, at .22 seconds! Fastest reaction time is Boba Fett, at .1 seconds, and Cad Bane has the best total, .36 seconds.
So, Cad Bane would kill Han in a Duel, easily. Overall, Cad Bane would win, which we probably all expected. But Cobb Vanth, Sabine Wren, and Mando could win if they drew first.
