@VaderBoyee Oh, Denning got hate... and lots complained he was ruining everything constantly. It's just that he wasn't on the forum that I recall. So less that stands out in my memory.
If you want controversy with Denning... the guy gets into enough of that during conventions. Where he basically implied the Legacy comics are just What-if futures and called Jaina Solo his 'bug slut'
@LordRyus You make some fair points and I’m most likely going to have to go back and reread Vegere and Jacen’s scenes together. I know that Vegere and Lumiya worked together to turn Jacen to the darkside and I personally felt like she was cleverly manipulating him by saying the force is neutral and everyone has selfish and evil desires in them. It almost felt like she was saying it was Jacen’s destiny to go dark.
@Swatteam123 the whole Lumiya working with Vergere was a Denningverse retcon. Lumiya was a non-canon Marvel comics character that Denning brought back into continuity in Dark Nest trilogy. She's not in New Jedi Order series at all and it's super unclear when she could have worked with Lumiya at all. Basically Troy Denning was just gaslighting Vergere being a Sith and used Lumiya as evidence of this even though logically she's perhaps the least reliable narrator we could get on the matter.
Heck, Lumiya's original story in the Marvel comics doesn't work with Shadows of the Empire. As Luke can't be simultaneously fighting a war as a member of Rogue Squadron who frames Luke for crimes by Lumiya... as Luke, Leia, and Lando basically left the Rebellion to track down Boba Fett and fight Black Sun for a whole year in Shadows of the Empire.
Anyways a lot of fans headcanon Denningverse being part of the old Marvel comics continuity as a result, and it's version of New Jedi Order was way darker where Tahiri Veila for example didn't get past Anakin Solo's death when she clearly did in New Jedi Order series we got. This way Vergere can be a Sith in one storyline but not in the other. Also fans of this like to have Luke and Mara not realizing Luke was corrupted in Dark Empire comics, to explain why Luke doing his own Order 66 in Denningverse but would never do that in any other series... many Denningverse haters claim Luke's Order in Denningverse is just one step away from being Sith themselves and now it makes sense why. This cascades as to why Mara Jade Skywalker going after Jacen makes more sense here but it totally out of character with any of Zahn's development, as here she never fully went lightside in Hand of Thrawn either.
@LordRyus The Marvel stuff wasn't Non-Canon. It became Canon through Abel Pena and some brilliant retcons. But that Jaina "bug" thing's weird.
@LordRyus Ah, I see where you issue with Troy Denning comes from. You just gotta love the countless retcons her legacy novels implemented 😑. Mara reverting back to the assassin she started out as, Jacen essentially becoming legends Kylo Ren (but slightly more likable imo), Luke showing signs of canon portrayal. Yeah that’s a damn mess 😂
@Swatteam123 @LordRyus You all inspired a new discussion series I'm doing on unpopular Legends works:

^Nice! Glad we could help. I still have A LOT of legends novels to read so I don’t know how much commentary I’ll be able to give to the unpopular legends novels. When you do legends comics though I’ll definitely have more to say about those!
^I've got planned Jedi Prince, Ewoks stuff, Ryus' favorite Denningverse, and all. What comics should I do that isn't the Wood series?
^There was a legends comic series centered on the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong that was sadly discontinued. It’s called the invasion series and I love it very much because it was my introduction to the Yuuzhan Vong. There was quite a bit of criticism for the artwork of the comics but I personally had no problems with it.
^Oh yeah! I remember it! I only read the first volume. Most comic art is bad in my opinion, especially nowadays. It was also my intro to this era.
What do you think?
