His actions and his personality are similar to Ezra Bridger in some ways. The empire took Ezra's parents away from him when he was only 7 years old and Ezra had been on his own ever since. Zayne Carrick was barely considered a padawan by his masters and superiors until his life took a turn for the worst when the Jedi masters of the covenant murdered all the padawans except Zayne. He was forced to flee for his because not only were they trying to kill him too but they also framed him for the murder.
Both of their crappy circumstances led to both of them getting involved in a life of stealing to survive. Even after Ezra became less selfish and joined the ghost crew, he still lived a life of stealing from the empire in order to live. Zayne who was always a selfless jedi still had to resort to stealing as well even though it went against everything he thought a jedi should do.
They also both got close to someone with a dark past. Sabine's history with her family and the Empire that she desperately didn't want Ezra and anyone else to find out. Jarael was once a slave until she won her freedom through combat and became an overseer of future slaves. She went from slave to slaver in an attempt to train them to survive this horrible lifestyle so they wouldn't be sent off to far worse conditions. Zayne didn't take this revelation nowhere near as good as Ezra took Sabine's revelation.
My last point of conversation is the fact that both of them tried to end a conflict through pacifistic actions. Zayne who fought on both sides of the conflict tried to prevent a great deal of bloodshed during the Mandalorians wars. He tried to reasons with both sides by speaking out against executing unarmed warriors and children. Ezra was caught in the middle of a conflict between a war scared Rex and Kalani looking to settle the clone wars once and for all. Despite Ezra having not been born when the clone wars took place he recognized the damage this war has done for Rex, Kalani and all those involved and he convinced both of them to end the conflict without lose of life.
Anyways I'm not sure if these similarities between Zayne and Ezra are just a coincidence or Dave took some inspiration from Zayne's story when he wrote Ezra's story. Either way I do like the similarities between them and how they became very selfless jedi in a time where the concept of right and wrong was a little blurry. Feel free to tell me what you guys think about this and if their are any more similarities between them feel free to comment that as well.
