Wait, is this real, or is this a joke?

Assuming this is not a joke:

Anakin married the actual Padme (she disguised herself as a handmaiden, then a security officer, while one of her handmaidens, Sabe, took on the guise of Queen during the crisis)

Padme would then go on to become Senator, where other handmaidens, like Corde, would also disguise themselves as her on occasion

The fake queen was Sabè (played by Keira Knightley). The real Queen was Padme (played by Natalie Portman).

Don't feel bad about getting confused. Keira and Natalie looked so similar their real life mothers couldn't tell them apart while filming ep 1.

The current continuity has Vader and Sabè teaming up, and Vader himself thought she was some pretender and about to violently murder her until he realized she was Padme's decoy and handmaiden, further try to uncover the truth about what happened to Padme.

He married Amidala not the handmaid they swapped them as a cover. Padme Amidala (who was queen of Naboo at the time of that movie) was pretending to be the handmaid to protect herself and she only swapped with the one

1. The majority who portrayed the Queen name was Sabé who was the Queen's double/decoy. Padme was the real Queen Amidala who disguised herself as a handmaiden

2. Padme Amidala is the true Queen which was revealed towards the end of the movie

3. As far as I know Padme only switched with one handmaiden in Episode I which was Sabé. There was another decoy in Episode II which I guess was also a handmaiden

Everyone here is missing the crux of the questions. The “Queen” of Naboo is an ELECTED position. When Anakin married Padme, she was no longer the Queen of Naboo. Someone else was. Padme was a senator representing Naboo in the senate. Anakin married Padme, not the Queen. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

It’s like watching Iron Man and then listening to Tony Stark saying “I’m Iron Man”, then asking “Who is Iron Man? I don’t get it.” Padme literally outed herself as Queen Amidala when she got down on her knees in front of the Gungan king and said “I am Queen Amidala”. It’s not exactly a difficult narrative to follow.

@LordRyus Was that the Vader storyline that started/ended on Pollis Massa? I need to re-read those.
