Hello there and welcome back to WoSW! Sorry for the late post, I've been busy this week with off-the-Wook stuff but it's mostly calmed down now so the next ones will be more on time. Today's featured character was supposed to be Hera Syndulla, but to celebrate the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi today I will feature someone from the Legends book Kenobi, which is mostly the same setting (ish, it takes place a little earlier than the series). Hera will be spotlighted next time I promise, and today will be on Annileen Calwell, who is one of the main characters of the book. The fanart doesn't exactly match her description (and I can't read Aurebesh very well yet so idk if it's actually someone else) but art of obscure Legends characters is hard to find. Hope you guys enjoy anyway though!
Summarized biography
Annileen Calwell was born in 56 BBY on Tatooine (I think). She married her husband Dannar Calwell and they had two kids, Kallie and Jabe. Unfortunately, Dannar died later from an attack by Tusken Raiders. Annileen inherited his store Dannar's Claim and continued to run it herself. After Order 66 and the Jedi Purge, Obi-Wan Kenobi came to Tatooine to watch over young Luke Skywalker. Annileen was one of the first locals to meet him and found him interesting. When a conflict broke out between her fellow settlers and the nearby tribe of Tusken Raiders, she participated in ending it along with Obi-Wan (the story is kind of complicated at least to me so I'm going to leave it at that, let me know if you want to learn anything else). Though she hoped that he would stay with her and her children, Obi-Wan felt that it was unsafe for them after the aftermath of the battle and arranged for them to move to Alderaan, where Annileen could pursue her dream of attending university there. The planet was destroyed years later by the Empire, and it's unknown whether she was still living there when it happened. (I hope she wasn't, one almost-lover of Obi-Wan should get a happy ending, lol.)
Why is she underrated?
I almost featured Annileen for Mother's Day but decided to do her later. She is such a strong character and one of the galaxy's best moms. I liked how she loves her kids, yet is very protective (overprotective I guess if you ask her son) of them. I hoped to see her in the Obi-Wan show, but since it's set 10 years after the book and she's probably still away from Tatooine if she is canon, I guess we won't. I guarantee that I'll find a way to headcanon her in though 😂

How to learn more about her
Annileen's only appearance is in Kenobi. I read it to prep for the series but it's a good book, I hope some elements from it get included in canon. There are a couple plot twists that make it better, and it has a cool new cast of characters. In the book, Annileen stands out as one of the best members of the supporting cast imo.
Your opinion matters too!
What are your thoughts on Annileen? Underrated or overrated? Like or dislike? Share anything you'd like to say about her in the comments.
Thanks for reading, and sorry again for the delay! The next post will be on Hera but as always, I'm open to suggestions for future featured characters. Have a great weekend and MTFBWY, always 🙂
