What if the sequels centered around Mara Jade instead of Rey? Wouldn’t that have been a much more interesting story while still centering around a female character?

I would've loved the sequels to be focused on Legends, they could've even made up some new characters but kept the rest of the old EU canon. Something about Luke's Jedi Order or the Legacy era would've been cool with me. And yes I love Mara a LOT more than Rey but I agree that it wouldn't necessarily have to be about just her.
(As some have said above) I don't think the sequels characters were anything close to "bad". I'm going to go out on a limb, but the concept of a descendant of Palpatine, a Force-sensitive Stormtrooper defector & a pilot who's parents fought in the previous war as the main trio was a stronger concept than the PT trio or hell, maybe even the OT trio. They just didn't stick the landing because unlike the OT & PT characters, they weren't exactly written well. (They were acted really well though.)
Legends already exists as a timeline, with Mara playing a large-ish role, so I don't really see the point in switching it around. We have two timelines, we may as well use them!
So the son of what could've been the most powerful force-wielder in history, an Ex-imperial Pilot that becomes a General of the Rebellion, The princess of an entire planet who also becomes a General, an old Republic Hero who trained the chosen one until he turned to the dark side, and a literal space dog isn't a strong concept?
And if that's not enough we also have Billy Dee Williams in the same main movies.
I like your thoughts and yes, I am the Plasmatic Productions on YouTube!
They would have ruined Mara.
I think it would work
Because it would have expand Luke's arc a bit more since Mara was his wife at one point
Plus it would have given us a new Lightsaber color that she used
In addition it would have changed Episode IX because she wouldn't have been a Palaptine and the Emperor wouldn't have been there
Also Kylo Ren would have been a more formattable villain since he wouldn't have fallen in love her since she would have been in love with Luke
Plus he relationship with Finn, Poe, Chewie, Han and Leia might have been different compared to Rey
Kylo would've been in love with Luke?
"Also Kylo Ren would have been a more formattable villain since he wouldn't have fallen in love her since he would have been in love with Luke"
I know it's a typo but bro💀
Sorry I meant she as in Mara Jade not Kylo
Anyways Kylo would have been a more interesting villain since he wouldn't have fallen in love
This is all to come in Canon EU, Mando, Ahsoka, etc etc. There are thirty years of post ROTJ content to expand on. The Clone Wars took 3, GCW took 4. We could fit another 8 galaxy wide conflicts into the gap. Patience younglings.
Once we have 30 bloated books of the same things repeating themselves like in Legends, written in contradictory, hilariously variable, quality, we can compare Legends to Disney.
I do wish more ideas from legends made its way into the sequel trilogy. While I do enjoy it for what it is, it would have been done differently.
What do you think?
