Yup I love Dark Empire. Imo it was Palpatine’s return done right and I loved his interactions with Luke and Leia throughout the story. Luke being a Jedi master at this point was a much bigger prize for Palpatine than before and it took all of his willpower to resist the darkside. On top of that he still needed the help of Leia, Han and the rebellion to fully break free from Palpatine’s influence.

I get blank stares but y’all have to admit, the early-mid 90s was a great time for the EU novels and comics. We got a Dark Side Luke, then Darl Empire I and II, Grand Admiral Thrawn and top it off Shadows of the Empire.

^I’m a huge fan of EU comics in general and as I stated above Dark Horse is responsible for some of my top favorite comics. Imo Marvel does have some very good comics as well (Darth Vader comics, Darth Maul comics and the new Obi Wan comics), but at this point Dark Horse has the edge over them for me.

Indeed. I've never been a fan of DE's palette. It always strikes me as a bit too sickly. It conveys nausea more than evil.

We also got Tales of the Jedi, which many people don’t realize not only kicked off the old republic ten years before the release of KOTOR, but was also pretty much the first piece of Star Wars content we got that was set prior to the original trilogy.

Yea, I actually posted about Tales 1 & 2 first. In retrospect, and for the sake of continuity and brevity, I should have poser it after. Heir to the Empire came out in ‘93 DE, I believe, was 90 or 91 and Tales was 95 and 96, respectively
