For some reason the blaster felt heavy, my hands gripping the rifle tighter than usual. This was what it was like to fight for our lives. My blaster was the only thing here keeping me alive, aside from my armor. The more I fired the more I saw my fellow soldiers fall. Click, click, click. My blaster had fired its last round. Was my head that out of it that I had not realized that the battery pack died? Switching that out quickly I began firing once again. Why did I, and so many of us pick this blaster? Did we all expect to become marksmen on a battlefield where if you miss your target you are most likely going to hit whatever droid is running behind it? The battle raged on forever it seemed, firing from our hips as either we are trying to save the strength in our arms or we have felt them go to jelly from the sure scale of what we are a part of, using nothing but guessing and targeting reticle as the world filled with dust. The sand pelting against the visor, leaving scratches and scuffs all over, like someone had left us in a sand blaster and they are trying to strip off the paint from our armor. If we hadn't been wearing this, I'm sure the sand would have stripped off our very flesh. Regardless, we must keep firing our blasters or die with them in our hands. Hopefully I remember to trade out for a lighter DC-15S when I get back to the ship, or should I say if?
The weapons of the GAR may have been not so numerous as the later Empire and Rebellion, but they still had a plethora of guns that could either launch rockets at enemy tanks, or bolts at enemy infantry. During the opening days of the war the DC-15A was the go to choice for majority of the Republic Military, a few clone officer did opt for the DC-15S however. As the war progressed, the DC-15A was replaced mostly by the DC-15S as the go to weapon for most clone soldiers. The reason was most likely due to the compact and light nature of the blaster compared to its much larger counterpart. However, many other blasters also saw service during the Clone Wars that saw varying degrees of use. One such blaster was the DC-17 pistols which, was usually carried in pairs, became a staple blaster for many ARC troopers as well as a few commanders and captains. Other specialized weapons was the DC-17m which was the weapon of choice for commandos. This weapon featured a unique interchangeable barrel system which allowed them to switch between a blaster, sniper rifle, anti armor, non-lethal, and breaching. These barrels could be changed easily in field, even while in combat. For clones who sought the more "spray and pray" life style, the Z-6 Rotary Cannon was the go to choice. This weapon was capable of putting down 166 shots per second down range and could obliterate droid forces that were on the march or hold down tight corridors with ease. The main draw back was that it took a long time to reload the cartridges, leaving these heavy gunners to retreat when they needed to reload. Regardless of what the blaster of choice was for a clone trooper, they were highly skilled with any weapon in their hands and were great marksmen.
What was your favorite blaster used by the clone army?
Mine was the DC-15S
PSA: Sorry it took so long for episode 2. I had just gotten power back this last Friday. Hopefully the rest of the year goes better.
