But regarding the comics in question: they’re among of my favorites from Legends, and all time favorites of SW in general. Naga Sadow, Odan-Urr, Exar Kun and Nomi Sunrider became my favorites. Of course, because it has been already 25 years, there might be things in it that can seem odd and old-fashioned, but if one is conscious of this since the beginning, that won’t affect one’s enjoyment. The drawing style is not among my favorites, but it illustrates pretty well the whole story and even gives it aa “vintage”feeling, lol. Coruscant’s illustrations as well as Korriban are great to me.

Y’know, it’s funny you should mention the drawing. Did you ever read the Dark Empire 1 and 2 comic arcs? The style was diff from the other 2. Thou admittedly, the pics are only secondary to the story for me. I was 14 almost 15 at the time. A classic is a classic is a classic. Ya got good taste, brother

Yes, I read Dark Empire (I bought an omnibus compilation. I don’t but comics by issues). But I bought it not because of Luke, but because of Palps. He’s my favorite character, so I wanted to know more about him, lol. And yes, they drawing style is, in my humble opinion, even worse than Tales of the Jedi, but just like you, they are secondary to me, as long as the story is good and the illustrations are in harmony with the narrative. I’m someone who prefers photorealistic drawings and animation, but as I said before, being aware that those comics are older than myself, it’s important to understand their context and not divert my attention to what really matters.

Even if someone hates it, I’ve always been interested in what makes them feel that way, only because I truly do enjoy listening/reading other perspectives from other fans. It adds color and flavor. Even if I disagree.

With regard to the art, perhaps it’s my untrained layman’s eye. Palpatine was always a fascinating enigma to me as well. It wasn’t until Drew Karpishyn’s Darth Bane trilogy that I found a character I immediately liked. I finished each almost the same day I bought them.
