Today we will be covering the infamous Imperial pilots, the black aces of the sky, The TIE pilot.⚫
History of the TIE pilot:
Originally The TIE pilots were all left over Clone pilots from the previous war, this gave people the impression that they were expendable. This idea wasn't entirely wrong as TIE pilots did not have fully safe gear or TIE Fighters. When non-clone pilots began to fill up the Imperial navy many TIE pilots began to join a campaign to have the TIE fighter redesigned to be safer for the pilots. Sadly they were ignored by the Imperial Hierarchy, later the TIE pilots began to believe that they required no protection because their skill was good enough without it. This became a prime example of how good the empire's technology is but also how it disregards their own soldier's. This disregard for their pilots lives eventually came to the end as the Imperial Remnant became more conservative with their pilots lives, one of the main officers who understood this was Grand Admiral Thrawn who during his campaign recognized the significance of his pilots lives and gave some of his TIE fighters deflector shields.
How the TIE pilots are Trained and selected:
TIE pilots endured Rigorous physical and Psychological training so luch that only 10% of the trainees were selected to be pilots. The rest were reassigned to be gunners and other navy posistions. They were trained to sacrifice their lives for the emperor and their fellow pilots, they all considered themselves to he expandable. They also had to endure physiological training to focus on their targets destruction. Along with this TIE pilots had their names replaced with just identification numbers. While on duty TIE pilots were kept in a state of emotional instability as it was believed it caused them to fight more effectively. They were also trained in 4 simulations, they would gain medals for each simulation passed, each simulation would mimic a past battle the Imperials had.
Gear the TIE pilots had:
TIE pilots have all black uniforms made of an energy shielded fabric, gravity pressure boots, a life support system, a built in communication system linked to the ship, and a black flight helmet. All of this gear is necessary to fly a TIE fighter because they have no Life Support Systems. Han solo who was an Imperial pilot prior to becomeing a smuggler and rebellion leader said that having to wear a TIE pilot suit was maddening because of having to hear the hiss of your breathing apparatus and smell your sweat all day. Later variations of the TIE fighter like the TIE bomber started to come with a Lofe support system , but most pilots would still wear this outfit in the bomber. The pilots helmets were similar to the standard Stromtrooper but the shell was bulkier and it was modified to support the cockpit of a TIE. TIE pilots usually never had any emergency rations of supplies as there was slim to no chance to survive a crash or direct shot. Some pilots carried blaster pilots , but they were also trained to use an E-11, SE14r , a V-6D mortar launcher, TB-47 Time Bombs, and F-187 Fusion cutters.
Notable TIE pilots:
Some notable TIE pilots are Han Solo, Biggs Darklighter, Baron Soontir Fel, Tycho celchu, Civé Rashon, Juno Eclipse , and Commander Villian Dance.
