Welcome back to another Rebels discussion. This episode is a personal favorite on mine, so I'm excited.
Plot Summary:
The episode starts off with the Ghost flying to an ice planet. When they land, it is revealed that they have a rescue mission and that Ezra is leading it. Ezra has a contact who told him about some refugees. He asks Chopper to let his contact know they are coming. However, his contact does not answer his transmission. The Specters hurry to find out what happened. They arrive where the prisoners are, only to find that the empire is guarding them. Just as they arrive, the stormtroopers take the prisoners out, and they turn out to be two Lasats! Zeb is not happy. When one of the two Lasats asks the troopers where they are being taken, he answers, “to the entention facility, for a nice long stay.” Just then Zeb knocks out the stormtroopers.
Just as all of the action dies down, none other than Hondo enters. Hondo “explains” that he sold the Lasats to the empire knowing the Ghost Crew would rescue them. And yes, he is Ezra's contact.
The two Lasats are amazed to see Zeb. They speak of a prophecy.
Hondo tells the crew that he could use a little help. Zeb is surprised that there are more Lasats. They introduce themselves as Gron and Chava, and say that they once served under Zeb when he was a captain. Zeb says he forgot it.
As the rest leave, Hondo confronts some Stormtroopers. He says he has not seen the fugitives, but would be happy to find them, for credits, of course.
When Ezra asks Chava where they are heading, she replies, “to Lyra-san, our new home.” As they walk, Hondo shows the stormtroopers where the rebels are. When the Stormtroopers leave, Hondo contacts Ezra to tell him that stormtroopers have arrived. A blaster fight ensues. Hondo casually closes the blast doors on the stormtroopers, before the troopers find him. The Ghost takes off and is into hyperspace, and the Empire has lost them. They do have a way to find them, a captured Hondo. He promises his service once again.
On the Ghost, Kanan asks where Lyra-san is. Chava replies that they need to find out. Despite Zeb's insistance that there is no Lyra-san, Chava prepares a ritual that will help them find it. Ezra, on the other hand, is happy to help. Chava says that only through the Ashla, or the Force, will they find Lyra-san; they will find it when the child leads the warrior and the fool. Zeb has not idea who the fool is, but thinks that the child is Ezra and he is the warrior.
Meanwhile, Kallus's ship tracks the Ghost.
Chava and Gron sit down an start chanting a Lasat spell. Ezra sees Zeb leave, and follows him to their room. Zeb tells the story of his past.
“As captain of the honor guard, I was responsible for proteting the royal family and every single Lasat. Their safety was my duty.”
“You couldn't have stopped the empire.”
“We held the palace, and then there was a bomb, and when I woke up, it was all just gone. We retreated. I was as good as dead, at least until Kanan found me.”
After a tense talk, Ezra convinces Zeb to help Chava. Chava is looking at Chopper's map. When she talks of the Child, Zeb nudges Ezra, but Chava turns him down, saying that Zeb is the child. Zeb extends his bo-rifle, and it clearly marks a certain planet on the map.
The ghost travels to Lyra-san, which is far away. They come out of hyperspace in front of a big space anomaly. The crew debates what to do next. Chava sees the anomaly as the maze that was prophacied. Then, Kallus's ship comes in from the back. Kallus says he would like the Rebels to surrender themselves. Chava just says that he is the warrior, much to Zeb's disappointment. He nonetheless gets his bo-rifle, and places it near the controls. As the ghost moves into the anomaly, Kallus launches the ties, though they recklessly follow the Ghost and are torn apart. As Kallus attempts to follow the Ghost, his ship starts to tear apart. Zeb's rifle guides the ship into hyperspace. They emege at Lyra-san.
While Kanan and Ezra wait for Zeb, Sabine, Hera, and Chop come to hint that Zeb isn't coming back. But then he comes to say that there are many Lasats on the planet, and he will go with the Ghost crew.
(I'm a bit tired as a write this, so apologies if that is a bit wordy.)
My thoughts:
Lasat are really cool. I hope we get to see more of them.
Really interesting how the force worked in this episode. It felt a little more magical, which was really cool.
When Kallus was the warrior, I wonder if that was foreshadowing his joining the Rebels.
Some of the quotes were really funny, like, "This is going to be an interesting ride," and, "I'm the child, and he's the warrior?"
So there is a Lasat royal family? I'm trying to picture that.
Lastly, I wonder what climate Lyra-san is. Desert.
Well, those are my thoughts; what are yours? Did you like this episode? What stood out? We're interested to hear!
