Hell yeah. They try to control a galaxy of about a million planets in a military dictatorship, but they recruit from about 1% of the galaxy's population- no wonder they lost
Considering Stormtroopers are an elite branch, I feel like humans should have been exclusive with near-humans being excepted as well. I see no issues recruiting outside of that for the normal troops though.
Big aliens for heavy classes would've helped a lot tbh, and maybe aliens with abilities that allowed them to be put in spec ops would've also helped.
^^^ Actually it's not that big a minority, in fact humans are the majority.
Seriously, the human population outnumbers basically every other species combined by about 3-to-1.
In any case having alien troops would've absolutely benefited the Corps... but the Empire, being aggressively humanocentrist, would never go for it.
Being that the Empire was modeled off of a certain German political party that I wouldn’t name, it is uncharacteristic of them to even consider it. The Empire was modeled after what people feared the most at that time. I’m only looking at this as a comparison, but sadly historical this would not happen. The Empire only appears to stand for equality, but you don’t have to look very deep to see that that is not what it values.
^That party did allow for people who weren't 'aryan' join the military, but I'm pretty sure nobody would want their lives to turn out like that tbh.
Yes. Many people joined the Rebellion because of the "anti-alien" (there's a word for that I can't think of it right now) views of the Empire.
In Legends after Endor later on many imperial remnant warlords were forced to allow near-humans and aliens to join their ranks since the prolonged conflict with the New Republic and fighting each other led to skiping the xenofobic policy of the GE in order to fill up the ranks since human population of the Empire was tired of consription as well as less and less people were willing to join voluntarily. Also there were some alien and near-human worlds which were supportive towards Empire but were ignored prior to the battle of Endor. But the issue is that standard armor/uniform will not fit certain alien spicies so it had to be adjusted which took time and money.
^^The word you’re looking for is “xenophobia.”
^^^Yea, one of the other reasons why the Empire didn't let aliens join is because even most humans who fell under the height of 5'10-6'3 weren't allowed to join due to the armor being made to fit that height proportion. And many aliens who were viable for combat were typically extremely big unless they were near-humans.
What do you think?
