When I was first getting into the comics I aimed for a lot of the ones with shorter runs, because the 75-issue main run just seemed like a huge commitment lol. It's honestly not a bad idea to read that kind of stuff first, as there are dozens of one-shots and small 5-issue limited runs that are very good.
The High Republic comics are great, but they tie heavily into the novels, so I would recommend reading those first if you want to have any idea what's going on.
As of right now, this is probably my favorite SW comic purchase I've made.
