@Infantry31st I'm 34 pages into this and my god is this essay a beautiful masterpiece! Bravo to you my friend! You picked up on similarities that I didn't even pay attention to. I particularly loved how compared Anakin and Bruce because these are two of my favorite fictional characters and the similarities between them that you pointed out completely caught me off guard! Like wow, they've both lost so much and they've kind of retreated into themselves and have thrown themselves into the line of duty as a coping mechanism.

I would also like to add a small tidbit to your point about Anakin confiding in Padme and Palpatine. This comes from the clone wars legends comics. To clarify the scene I'm about to talk about takes place no more than a month after the battle of Geonosis. There's a scene where right before the battle of Kamino where Obi-Wan comments on the turmoil he senses within Anakin.

Obviously, Anakin is still coming to terms with his secret marriage to Padme as well as his mother's death and his actions as a result of that. Anakin refused to open up to Obi-Wan about all of this torment and instead he chose to bottle it up. The only two people who even know about his actions against the Tusken Raiders are Padme and Palpatine because as you've pointed out they're the only two people he felt like he could confide in. Even though he confessed his actions to the two of them one of them was a huge manipulator who sought to influence this dark behavior and Obi-Wan who was the closest thing Anakin had to a confidant at this moment was unaware of what exactly ails his padawan. This is another great example of how Anakin's refusal to open up to anyone in his darkest times further alienated him from the very people and the galaxy he sought to protect and preserve. Anyways I'm definitely going to continue reading your essay some more in the near future and thank you again for sharing this with us!

As a matter of fact, my comparison of Anakin to Bruce was one of my favorite sections of my paper, since I felt like I had some compelling points, and I'm glad you thought so too.

If the comic you cited wasn't from Legends, I'm sure I would have added it into my essay because that last page is really cool to think about, as you have explained in your own examination over it. I loved reading it, and totally agree. Keeping things inside yourself can be harmful. As a matter of fact, this essay was a tool, in many ways, for me to release some of my past and, at the time, current troubles that were weighing on me, so I totally get what you're saying.

This has got to be the longest essay I've ever read. Honestly, I came into it expecting it to be boring and too long, but once I got into it, it was great! You kept it interesting for all 116 pages, and I found myself liking Anakin a lot more after reading it. It was kind of hard for me to see his arc throughout the Clone Wars, but you did an excellent job of showing the transition. The section on attachments was the best part. Relating it to your life makes Anakin's seem more... real, I guess. If it helped you, that's amazing. I would never have been able to write about that. Amazing job, this is one of the best things I've seen on the wook!

Ahhh, Infantry, my friend I don’t think I can find the words to convey what a masterpiece you’ve written. I’m 63 pages into this (yeah I’m taking my time reading this because it’s just too good to rush) and I’m loving every bit of it. I appreciate the shout-out btw. I love how you described the Kenobi undercover arc. As someone who loves Kenobi as much as Anakin I can’t help but side with Anakin on this situation. When Anakin trust someone he’s always going to expect the best from them and he would never expect to be blindsided the way that Obi Wan blindsided him.

I love how you emphasized the fact that Kenobi and Anakin see each other as best friends and practically brothers. Being as such, Obi Wan knows better than almost anyone how Anakin’s emotions work and even if Anakin was so emotional inclined the way he is, you don’t take advantage of a person’s emotions and trust the way that Kenobi did. That’s not friendship and Obi Wan didn’t even have the nerve to apologize. Instead he tried to defend this sickening act of betrayal. As an Obi Wan fan I was deeply disappointed in him.

I would also like to point out the comments you made regarding Anakin’s tears right before he left to confront Windu and Sidious. I know he was crying for Padme but I hadn’t even considered the possibility that he was crying for everything that he’s about to do. Bravo my friend for pointing that out 👏. It’s almost like a pre mourning. He’s letting his grief and remorse out now so it doesn’t swallow him up later because deep down he knows he’s going to their to defend the devil. Then of course there’s the tears he sheds after he massacred the separatists on Mustafar. That’s was the last straw for Anakin. When his eyes turned red and yellow that was definitely our indicator that Anakin Skywalker was no more. Anyways I’m going to continue to read this and post more of my feedback as a go along.

Beautiful- the only word capable of describing this epic manuscript. I feel like, as we've read through each section, this has been a journey for you as much as it has been for Anakin- growing, maturing etc... Thanks for sharing that journey with us and once again, thank you for sharing your testimony with me. Meant more than I can say, brother 😊

(PS.) There were MANY points in this paper where I thought: "He's thought that as well??? I thought I was the only one!" That came as something of a relief and confirmed something my Mum's been telling me for ages. However, what really struck me was your refusal to read The Killing Joke. I was exactly (and I mean EXACTLY the same)- I listened to an audio version (with Mark Hamill's voice!) and quite enjoyed that, but I couldn't keep hold of the actual book, even when I borrowed it from a friend. The depiction of Barbara Gordon's torture is just... sick and filling your head with images like that doesn't do you any good. NEVER feel weak or silly for saying that- that feeling's straight from the Lord! I would also add that I objected to the comic's author- the famous Alan Moore. Even though his work is insanely popular, Moore is wrapped up in some SERIOUS occult activity and I wanted no part of that. I bought a copy of Watchman, but when I looked up his profile on wiki, I didn't want it to stay in the house. Just thought I'd share that- you're really NOT the only one who thinks like that, my friend 😎

^Thank you, man. I’m surprised you had a similar experience to me with the Killing a Joke. I don’t remember if I said this in the paper, but we all have to draw a line for ourselves as to how much we are willing to take, in terms of immoral happenings we are subjected to when reading or watching something, and while a lot of people are fine with looking at Barbra’s torture, I hope to never be ok with things like that. I think it should be disturbing and it’s probably the point of that scene, though I’ve never read or watched it, only heard about it.

But while that is true for me, it is not true for others because they are made differently by God, potentially to be able to not be as affected by those things in order to be a Police officer and have to actually live through someone of the horrors of people’s lives perhaps like Barbra’s fictional experience. However I don’t get the feeling that I am made that way, and by the sound of it, neither are you. Something inside me was revolted by it, and while all people should feel some degree of that, for me, it really just made me sick. This might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I felt like it affected my soul in a way.

I’ve thought about what would happen if a development in Anakin’s character arises, but I decided that I wouldn’t add anything to the paper. I think that I’ve written enough for others to get my interpretation on Anakin, and, if possible, enjoy my interpretation. Over a hundred pages is plenty, and if I discover more about Anakin in the future, I’ll think about it by myself rather than share it. In fact, the Revenge of the Sith Novelization did exactly that when I read it, and, had I read it prior to me finishing my analysis, I’d have certainly shared my thoughts on it.
