Wookieepedia has lots of pages dedicated to itself as a site and how it functions, and logically a wiki page for this forum exists too.
We recently worked with the administrators on rewriting that page to be more informative to editors and casual users alike, concluding with a proposal for policy change on the wiki’s consensus forum.
It passed, and the changes were made. The Discussions wiki page now contains a more in-depth overview of the forum and a more concise list of rules to follow. Those rules were adapted from what we used to call the guidelines.
The guidelines page is now empty, as the rules are now located on the wiki page. This is fitting, as they were never really guidelines and always enforced as hard rules.
We need new guidelines now that are more accurate to their common dictionary definition: non-rules that are worth practicing nonetheless.
TL;DR: we rewrote the original guidelines and moved them to a more official page. The rules themselves haven’t changed. We’re rebuilding the guidelines now to serve as community resources, and we want your input on what to add.
This is a good exercise for users to show what they know about how a forum works. We want suggestions for how users can best conduct themselves beyond just following the rules.
What should we see more of on the forum?
What should we see less of on the forum?
How can we as a community take actions to further improve Star Wars discourse?
What do our best users and posts bring to the table?
What are the resources and permanent threads all users should easily access?
Obviously we mods can veto anything that's contrary to the rules or the principles of a forum, but I don't foresee much trouble there. Can’t wait to start this next phase of the forum with everyone.
