@Plexaura You're welcome and thank you. Yeah, I do tend to write various essays, but mostly, they're just random and not intended to be related. It just sometimes comes off that way. Taking a break can be good and can help someone find a new topic to discuss.

To the above discussion, I didn't write this to just generally tell people that they should write. It's here for anyone who wants to write and needs inspiration, or anyone who just wants a good read. New users show up all the time, so this is a good way to introduce them to the Essay of the Week Contest. It's not directly responding to the latest contest results. It's just a random piece that was inspired by many things.

I also do show example with actions. Multiple times. I've written essays about Jar Jar Binks, or the fact that fans are fans, whether they like a certain trilogy, or not, for example. This was mostly just a basic piece written to inspire anyone who needs it, or hopefully be a good read for anyone looking for an essay. Even for new users who don't know where to start when it comes to posting, not just in response, as I said, to the recent contest results.

Anyway, I hope that clears it up. I like to write essays like this randomly and on occasion just for those who want, or need it. There's not really too deep a meaning here. Thank you for your time.

Spooder created it with this purpose: to fusion thoughtfulness in a funny and uncommitted way, in order not only to increase the number of edifying posts as well the quality of them. However, as I already stated yet I’m gonna explain again, but in more summarized way, there are three kind of users here as I interpret:

1. The ones who like to write and discuss about deep topics, and are not always posting not commenting because their replies are generally selected to serious posts or “exclusive” to worthy things ;

2. The ones who are more eclectic and use to navigate through everything - they might write an interesting essay today because they like to do it, and tomorrow post a useless poll regardless - generally are more frequent and use to reply to almost everything they might find entertaining;

3. The ones who don’t give a damn on writing edifying things, they are just here as a funny and entertaining distraction, as much making tournaments, polls comparing characters and posting constant memes, their replies use to be short and generally unidimensional.

If I had to order that in a percentage, I’d put (just an estimate) 1- as 20%; 2- as 50%; 3- as 30%. I’d speculate the the kind of users who are more active in EotW are 1 and 2 considering the most frequent users.

Therefore it is totally normal that the contest might have many ups and downs during the year, as well the period thereof also influences it a lot, like summer generally more people show up, as well in times of TV series debuts. The people from group 1 always use to make pauses not only from writing but also from the Wook, and the ones from group 2 I’d say are a 50/50 of chances, and the ones from group 3 are rare. Considering all these variants, although there’s always gonna be an average number of nominations, the extremes can also happen, for better or for worse.

The whole point of this is: one thing is to incite people to manifest their appreciation for the franchise in the way they like more; another thing is to trying to inspire people to write their thoughts down in a prose way about something related to the franchise in order to raise the hype of a specific thing. And on the later matter, my previous reply exemplifies all that.

This post wasn't meant to have such a deep meaning. It's just there for anyone who needs it. The contest is a small point behind it, to see if any new users would like to join in and to give them an example of an essay, as well as topic ideas.

No one has to write if they don't want to. I don't want people to feel like I'm asking them to. It's just a general post not meant to have much more meaning than to inspire people who need it. It's also meant to improve general discussions, as I see locked posts all the time. Just a basic post that I'll sometimes feel the urge to write depending on arguments, or posts that are deleted or locked.

I'm really starting to regret this post. Maybe I should just not write anything else for a little bit.

I'm so sorry! I never meant to take this post any further then what was intended. I just like discussing the community in general, as well as what can be done to help it. I understand your intention, and perhaps the frustration you feel if it got carried too far. Next time I'll be more keen to take it for what it is. Again, I'm really sorry. Please don't stop with what you're doing, we all appreciate it.

Then I deeply apologize for my misunderstanding. Perhaps in my introverted and kind of anti-social mind I rationalized the whole thing too much and made a big deal of it. It’s that sometimes your words sound like in the style of self-help books, although I get the purpose I don’t see what’s the point once you said yourself there is no deeper meaning behind it.

But then again, that’s just me who misinterpreted the situation. Sometimes I forget you have this David/Solomon-Psalms/Proverbs side on spreading seeds of hope and good atmosphere for the sake of it. I hope I didn’t hurst your feelings, and I’m always eager to see your nexts news.

Well, the meaning is to inspire those who need it, or those who are new and not sure where to begin. I'm definitely not telling people they have to write something. It's just there for anyone who needs it. Anyone who doesn't will scroll by.

I just mean that it's not meant to come off as me saying that people have to write something, because they don't. It's just here if anyone doesn't have any ideas, or loses the will to write. I was really tired when I wrote it and fell asleep right after, so maybe the writing wasn't done so well. I don't know.

I'm not upset at anyone, so no apology is needed. I just didn't mean for it to come off as something unnecessary. I do try to spread optimism and inspiration where I can, just for the heck of it even. This was one of those times. Nothing in particular seems hopeless and even the contest's one entry didn't worry me, because it does fluctuate.

I was just inspired by a feeling to try to help anyone who needs it and make a post for those who need it. Even those who don't post can still enjoy a good read, or maybe get inspired by this. It was meant to be a general inspiration. For example, the joke portion was meant to say that Star Wars can be used in daily life. Not necessarily just on these forums.

I see why the confusion, though. I only mentioned "In life" once and other times, I'd mention writing on here. It was meant to encompass a general example. That your love of Star Wars can be used on here, in your daily life, with friends. In reality, too and not just focused on these forums. I didn't get that across clear enough, though, I don't think.

Anyway, writing is interpreted differently by each reader. That can be a great thing and sometimes also disheartening, but I'm not upset, just a little saddened that you have deemed this post as unnecessary. For some, I feel, it may be something that helps, so to me, helping even one person is worth it.

I appreciate the thoughts of the readers on this, but it was not my intention for it to come across as me telling people that they should be writing, as writing was just one aspect of my piece. In the end, I was hoping to let people know that if they wanted to write, there's a wonderful plethora of possibilities to choose from.

My apologies to those that didn't respond well to my posts here. It just hurt a bit that my essay was considered to be unnecessary after the work that I put into it. Thank you for your time.

Star Wars is something I consistently try to share with others. I enjoy watching the movies with my friends and my brother. I enjoy helping newbies understand the continuity. I enjoy coming to the forums to discuss Star Wars.

What we must remember is that each fan experiences Star Wars in different ways. Essays aren't for everyone. Meme culture isn't for everyone. We shouldn't look down on someone's experience and trash it.
