Announcing [ThreadHub], the index of Star Wars Discussions posts sorted by topic!
This post is an in-depth overview of the project as a whole. There are several details. It shouldn’t take extremely long to read, but a TL;DR is available at the bottom.
• Mission Statement
The [ThreadHub] index system serves to improve visibility of certain discussions, help threads, Official Threads, and various other posts in order for them to be followed by anyone and shared with other users.
• Purpose and Background
One of our main goals for the community has always been the continuation of conversations. Joining in existing posts always ensures that the maximum number of interested users can converse together about a topic rather than having countless small conversations with relatively few participants. For more info on why and how we use older threads see this post.
• Explore
Browse through the hubs and archives listed in [ThreadHub] to find the discussions that interest you most. This is a tier system created for easy flow. It all starts with the Master Hub. From there, the options get more and more specific down the line until you find the post you are looking for.
If you want to see more existing posts on the same topic other than the ones listed, use the Article Tag system. All of the posts in [ThreadHub] are tagged properly and related posts can be found by clicking on the Article Tags. There is also the search function if you are looking for a specific post.
• Follow
The idea behind this compilation only works if people are following the linked discussions. Even if you have nothing to say at the moment, hit ‘follow’ and see what comments come to a thread over time. Consider yourself somewhat of an expert on a certain topic? Follow the corresponding thread(s) and be the wise teacher to those who join in!
• Share
Users are never required to join in a certain thread (unless spoiler protocols are in place for a topic!), but you can certainly encourage them to do so. See someone talking about a subject with an active post that you are involved with? Give them the link!
• Contribute
[ThreadHub] is a work in progress that will never end. New material means new additions. There are also many hubs and discussions missing. We need your help!!! Feel free to create any hubs that are missing. If you see or create a discussion thread that is not listed then link it into the comments of the appropriate hub to be added by a moderator.
• Operation: Skyhook
[ThreadHub] is partnered with another large-scope Community Project known as Operation: Skyhook, which in turn is part of the Telosian Restoration Project. Skyhook’s main goal is the creation and organization of Official Threads here at Discussions for all Star Wars media material. You will see it tagged in the hubs for those subjects. TRP is an umbrella project that aims to continue existing conversations of all types. Please consider joining in the effort to accomplish these projects’ goals!
• Legacy Hubs
An index for Discussions is hardly a new concept. Previous generations of users had other versions. Formatting issues and sheer age have prevented them from remaining in common use. But to credit these older hubs and their creators as a group, the efforts of the past will be linked in [ThreadHub] wherever appropriate and labeled as Legacy Hubs. This is for those users who would like to take a trip back in time. Many of the old posts are still open for conversation!
• TL;DR and Final Notes
This is an index, a way to find posts easily. It is presented to you all as a community effort to organize posts, and to consolidate conversations as much as possible so that everyone has their voice heard as loudly as possible.
Hopefully, this project will be a long standing one that aids users and encourages the overall sense of community on our forum. Please put it to good use!
Questions, comments, and suggestions welcome!
