It's a funny thing when you can see mirrors of reality in a fictional universe. Star Wars began in 1977 and many will agree that it has featured some of the most entertaining and memorable action, visuals and locations.

However, to me, the at the core of this franchise, is the heart. The characters, the stories, the way that people grasp onto these tales from a galaxy far, far away. I believe that for many, including myself, Star Wars can relate to our own memories, our own lives.

Mirrors to the feelings that we feel, the joy, the heartache, the highlights and the dark times. Life isn't always easy and the tales seen in Star Wars often have a lesson to be learned.

We see it in Luke and Anakin Skywalker. How, even though his own father believes himself to be too far gone, Luke never gave up on trying to see the good in him. The strong bond and pull of wanting to save someone.

The care it takes to overlook the struggles and challenges in a relationship. Han Solo and Leia Organa. In love and later broken apart. The love for their son, a mutual feeling that is part of what brings them back together one last time.

C-3PO and R2-D2. Two best friends, quite different from each other. Yet, the events that they go through brings them closer together and they share a lifetime of respect and admiration for each other.

There are many stories, such as these, that show the core of the heart. People have emotions and Star Wars shows these many emotions in so many ways that it's hard for someone not to relate to it.

For me, this year, it's the hope. The fact that there's hope, even in the toughest of times. It's great to see strong characters who don't give up, who keep pushing through. This year, many need that hope more they have in quite some time.

Star Wars continues to release new stories of hope, but also of wit, wisdom and of course, a lot of fun. That's why I believe this franchise goes strong and why I feel like it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

It's fun to look at the visuals of it, but the integral part of what connects people to it, seems to be the heart and the emotion. It's entertainment, of course, but the stories and the characters are what truly keep me coming back.
