Polis Massa was an asteroid field located in the Outer Rim.

far from major hyperspace lanes. At some point, Polis Massa was a planet. The planet was home to a subterranean species called the Eellayin until it was destroyed by a mysterious cataclysm.

The Kallidahins, who believed that the Eellayin was their ancestor, began excavating the asteroid field to recover Eellayin tissues and use cloning technology to recreate the long gone species.

The Kallidahins, also known as Polis Massans, were a sentient cetaceans native to the world of Kallidah. The Kallidahins lacked facial features and were commonly mute, communicating with signs and telepathy.

They were known for their medical, archaeological and xenobiological skills.

The Kallidahins were kind to any visitors, helping Jedi masters Kenobi and Yoda several times and in the later years, helped the Alliance.

The Kallidahins had a skinny body covered by a soft gray skin. And had a long neck connecting the head and body. because of these features, they could not walk as fast as the Humans nor compare with strength. Their only facial feature was a pair of black eyes.

From Wiki: Massan was the native language of Kallidahins, also known as Polis Massans. Since they had no vocal cords, this language was a sign language, which, combined with telepathy, allowed them to communicate with each other. The language fell outside of the normal audio range of the Human species.

Later, the entire population of Kallidahins abandoned their homeworld, the Kallidah, and moved to Polis Massa to work on the project.
