It was the birthplace of the Jedi Order and held the Jedi Texts.

<Lanai> - Sentient
The females of the Lanai species are known as the "Caretakers" and are devoted to maintaining the sacred structures that dot the island home of the First Jedi Temple.
The males, known as "Visitors", spends most of their time at sea, returning on a monthly basis with their catch. Their return is met with a celebration of dancing and music, which lasts for several days.
<Porgs> - Non Sentient
The Porgs are evolved from the same stock as Lenais, but not Sentient as their neighbors.
However, they are entertaining creatures that dive into the ocean to catch fish for their young (Porglets).
They have a flat nose, forward-facing eyes and webbed feet for swimming.
<Thala-Siren>- Non Sentient
The Thala-Siren, with its giant flippers, long neck, snout, and large udders, makes for a curious sight.
It is not hunted by the Ahch-To locals, who instead harvest the green milk produced by the female creatures (AKA sea cows) for its nutritional benefits.
