This is a cool idea! I’m glad I found this.

1. I watched A New Hope last night.

2. I’m showing the Star Wars movies to my girlfriend for the first time. She hasn’t seen any of them and isn’t really into fantasy or sci-fi, so getting to see her reactions and explain all the details is so much fun.

3. My favorite scene remains the opening on the Tantive IV. Fun, exciting, and perfectly sets the tone for everything in the film and the saga as a whole. That’s my definitive Darth Vader scene too (“If this is a counselor ship, where is the ambassador?!”) Classic.

4. I realized that the dianoga in the trash compactor let go of Luke because it knew the walls were going to close in. I always thought it just didn’t think Luke would have tasted good, lol.

1. I watched The Empire Strikes Back last night

3. The Battle of Hoth was my favorite part this time around. It’s such a blast of a blockbuster set piece, and the film does a great job of conveying the hugeness and destructiveness of the AT-ATs.

4. Something new I noticed was that R2 knew how to fix the hyperdrive on the Falcon because he interacted with the central computer on Cloud City, which told him it was sabotaged, building off the idea that droids can “talk” to inanimate machines like 3PO did with the Falcon earlier in the film.

I’ve started doing a big rewatch of all movies and shows in chronological order so yesterday I watched Attack of the Clones.

My favorite part of watching the movie yesterday was the chase when Anakin and Obi-Wan go after Zam. They’re chemistry is actually really good and the dialogue is not bad. Obi-Wan saying “I hate it when he does that” when Anakin jumps out of the in air speeder might be the funniest moment in a Star Wars movie that was intended as humor.

So this isn’t something I just noticed necessarily but it is a detail that I just thought of as being significant. The fact that Mace and the Jedi have to be saved by the clone army means that the Jedi are thrust into the position of being generals in the war without having any time or space to debate whether that is the proper course of action. The fatal mistake that the Jedi Order makes is basically made for them without the opportunity to do it differently. Of course the Jedi could’ve and imo should’ve backed out of the roll but that’s much more difficult and complicated.

3. Curiously, I most love Qi'ra and Han's reunion aboard the First Light. It's a simply done moment, yet I felt a lot of emotion coming through in that particular segment. She's changed so much, and he's happy-- and they finally are in the same room, but there's something intangibly tense about it. Also, Qi'ra's outfit aboard Dryden's yacht is great!

1. I’m watching The Phantom Menace as I write this.

2. It’s just me for now, but there’s a marathon on TV that some of my family will come over to join watching later.

3. My favorite part is the lightsaber duel, but that’s a boring answer, so I’ll express more appreciation for the visual effects, which hold up perfectly. The joy amongst Bravo Squadron is infectious as they celebrate Anakin’s finishing shot. It’s awesome.

4. I noticed how well Lucas had the separate plot points in the third act edited together, especially at points of tension. Jar Jar surrenders, Padmé’s squad is trapped, Anakin is shot down, and finally Qui-Gon is killed. These four scenes all happen sequentially, and interestingly the score of each scene feels like it was mixed up in the ordering, like they were originally in another order before Lucas decided to arrange them this way.

I've definitely seen every film all over again since the last time I replied here, but it's funny how things almost feel the same.

1. I watched The Phantom Menace in theaters for the anniversary showing last weekend.

2. Three of my friends were able to join me.

3. The last scene between Anakin and his mother really got to me. It's such a heartfelt moment that only becomes more emotional upon rewatch.

4. During the underwater chase sequence, Qui-Gon uses a mind trick on Jar Jar to calm him down, but overdoes it and accidentally causes him to faint. Never noticed that until this time.
