I really don’t start enough discussions, but hey, now I have something to talk about!
I just went to the Hollywood Bowl’s annual Maestro of the Movies concert, conducted by David Newman and hosted by John Williams. The music was performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra; however, I unfortunately forgot the choir's name.
FANDOM actually featured a video from yesterday’s show, which my best friend attended.
A bunch of themes were played:
1972’s The Cowboys (the only John Wayne film in which his character dies)
Music from the 1970 version of Jane Eyre
Han and Leia’s love theme
Some more Western music (I need to see more Western films)
Welcome to Jurassic Park
The opening scene of Saving Private Ryan
The opening scene of E.T.
The 20th Century Fox and Star Wars fanfare
Obviously, the best part of the show is the use of lightsabers. Everyone had one, including myself with the cheap blue one:
Funny enough, I heard from a guy about two folks in the crowd who knew nothing about Star Wars. They were very confused. John Williams came out holding a lightsaber too!
Here are two panoramas:
A few questions:
Who has been to a John Williams concert? What was it like?
What is your favorite John Williams theme? It doesn’t have to be Star Wars, but my personal favorite is the Duel of the Fates for obvious reasons.
