We begin aboard the ISD (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Imperial-class_Star_Destroyer) Firedrake, flagship of Grand Admiral Savit and the Third Fleet.
A new starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Grand_Admiral (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Grand_Admiral)! I wonder how Savit ranks in comparison to Thrawn, and I love that Thrawn wants to go see Savit's family music show. Thrawn is much more brilliant, but Savit might have the better fleet (the Empire tends to have lower-number, higher-rank categorization).
Thrawn, Savit, Tarkin, and Krennic discuss with Palpatine via hologram the funding for the Defender program against Stardust, which is experiencing gralloc (mynock cousins) attacks.
Krennic is portrayed very well, and you can tell he's very nervous, similar to how he speaks to Vader in Rogue One. He challenges Thrawn to rid the Esaga sector of grallocs (wrecking Stardust's supply lines) in one week or jeopardize his reputation. Thrawn accepts.
This book takes place during the fourth season of Rebels, after Thrawn leaves for Coruscant in starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Jedi_Night (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Jedi_Night) and before he returns in the finale. If Thrawn fails this mission, it will be at the same time Governor Pryce destroys his Defender project fuel supply. I don't expect a good ending there.
If I know anything about the previous two Thrawn books, Timothy Zahn has something more here that is yet to be revealed. What do you think?
