As well all know, Versus Polls are a pretty common thing to come across in this small community, especially when sorting through New. However, time after time you will find these polls where a Star Wars character is pinned up against a Marvel or an Anime character. Let me explain why this is so absolutely redundant.
The Star Wars Universe is one of a kind due to the existence of the Force. As Obi-Wan Kenobi said; “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.“
The Force is what ultimately grants any Star Wars character his power, especially if we’re talking about Sith or Jedi or anything of those sorts. The Force is what grants a Jedi/Sith their powers, their reflexes, their agility, endurance, skill, and everything else that generally augments their body beyond what’s actually physically capable. Without it, they would just be sitting ducks with a laser sword. Taking away the Force from any Jedi/Sith literally leaves them with nothing except their lightsaber, which also relies on the Force to grant the wielder more power, swifter moves, and generally more prowess.
When cross-universing, you’re taking two completely opposing universes with polar opposite laws, and attempting to bind them together into one. Obviously, this just collapses on itself.
The difference between granting or taking away the Force for the Star Wars related character immediately shifts the tides to an absolute 100% loss, especially if we’re talking about extremely powerful Marvel/DC/Anime/etc characters.
If the Force were to be granted, then there’s nothing stopping the Force-Wielder from lobotomizing the opponent on the spot, since they wouldn’t even be aware of its existence, and would be physically incapable of even interacting with it. What stops force-sensitive opponents from constantly using the Force on one another is due to the fact that their opponent is ALSO Force-Sensitive. They are able to directly counter or hold off Force-Based attacks because they too share the exact same ability being pressed against them. Plus Force shields are a thing, which opponents have to first break through to even use the Force on others.
Taking AWAY the Force would leave the Marvel/DC/Anime/etc character still remaining with all of their powers, since they don’t rely on universal laws to aid them. Their powers derive from them, so taking away the Force from the battle wouldn’t harm them in any way (some specifics like The Flash could possibly though, but that’s also a completely different part of this since you’d have the same argument but just about the Speed Force rather than the Force).
If including the Force into these cross-universe battles, the opponent has literally no défense against it, and could therefore just be killed or disabled with relative ease, so long as the Star Wars character’s emotions are in line— which in neutral ground, would be.
If taking it away, the Star Wars character is just left with a laser sword whilst his opponent maintains all of their powers. See why these versus polls are so useless? And that’s not even mentioning the fact that this is a Star Wars fandom, and people who don’t know (for example) Marvel and don’t want to know Marvel characters and their lore— are far less likely to actually go and do research and see who would actually win. Which in turn creates favouritism because Star Wars is Star Wars and people are obviously going to vote for the character they know within the universe that they fully understand, rather than one that they possibly don’t understand, and don’t want to understand since it has literally nothing to do with their community. Anyways, just needed to get this out there.
