The Fandom Content Review account is an automated bot that makes edits on behalf of Fandom and our third-party moderation partners. It helps to identify and address vandalism and spam on the platform.

Leading Up To This Launch

In Fall 2024, Fandom began partnering with external moderation groups to review wiki content, both new and old. Based on those findings, we launched the Edit Review program in Spring 2025 to better address inappropriate content, one-off vandalism, and older cases of vandalism that may have gone unnoticed.

The Edit Review program helped us better understand both historical and current vandalism, but it relied heavily on manual work and highlighted a gap in wiki-specific knowledge.

To improve this, our engineering team developed this program into a full-fledged service: the Fandom Content Review Bot. This bot automates parts of the process while still preserving the critical thinking and oversight provided by human reviewers.

FAQs

How does the bot work?
The bot uses a third-party AI moderation tool, trained on content provided by Fandom staff, to flag potentially problematic edits. These flagged edits are then manually reviewed by our moderation partner and their team, who decide on the appropriate response. Once a decision is made, the bot carries out the action. All bot actions are visible on the wiki’s Recent Changes page (if bot changes are filtered to show).
What actions can the bot perform?
The Fandom Content Review bot is capable of the following actions:
What happens if an edit is flagged but already reverted/undone?
The bot will only act on vandalism if it is the latest revision. It will ignore the problem edit if another user has already deleted it.

Accuracy and Feedback

Our goal is to enhance both the bot’s capabilities and the efforts of the moderator team behind it. However, because this process involves automated systems and human review, mistakes may happen. If you believe this bot account has made an incorrect or inappropriate edit on your wiki, please reach out to Fandom Support so we can investigate and make any necessary corrections.
